I'm gonna wait for a bigger source than the Russian 'Kremlin Today' before I comment. Given Obama's recent trip to Russia and the U.S.-China relations to bitch slap N. Korea until they wake up this move is highly unorthodox. Oh, and when the hell have Russia and China backed Iran? Russia and China (both with veto in UN sec. council) condemned Iran's nuc project, too much doesn't add up. /shrug

Iran was part of the Russian sphere of influence in the Cold War, after the revolution and the U.S. backed dictator was thrown out of the country. Russian's been helping them with nuclear power materials for the last 2-3 years, sending weapons for about 20 years...list goes on.

Could not agree with Xem more here. There are quite a number of legitimate grievances against the U.S., which many of you have probably never heard of, nor understand the relevance of. You can't declare yourself the sole superpower, exploit other countries for their resources, overthrow legitimate governments, assassinate leaders, fund terrorist organizations, comply with authoritarian crackdowns, and bomb other countries at will, and then expect to be liked by everyone. Open your eyes, read some world history, and understand that for the last 50 plus years we haven't been just peacefully exporting democracy to other countries. The Cold War, even though there was no war in the U.S. or Russia, was a fucking war. We fought each other through proxy wars in other countries, and those fights are very real to them, though they may not be to us.

most people would like to think that the state of the middle east is the fault of the middle east but the Palestine/Israel issue was created by the UK and the UN. Saddam, Al-Queda, and the Taliban rose to power thanks to the US. Millions of people died fighting these proxy wars and they hold a grudge as well they should. The reason these terrorist organizations grow so fast isn't religious fanaticism, thats just how they justify the killing. There is a well deserved level of animosity already in place thanks to our actions in the region.
