vA valid point you make here but the reason why most players have this continued addiction with SRO is because they can throw money at the game with no effort whatsoever on their part and become successful(Caped/best gears/all the skills etc). Once they realize they have sit down and hand grind their way I think their addiction will cease.

That addiction of not doing anything and getting everything by tossing money at JM is what JM might be afraid of loosing.

gud point u made their..sounds right .. that might be why they didn't even do anything about bots for the past 4 years.

Sorry but I've seen a lot of new people... in fact, I'm one of them with just 9 months of playing it (1 month, a year off from sro and 8 months playing my char).

When you download SRO nobody say to you anything about crowded servers, bots, gold bots, stall bots, se.x bots xD (just to put some fun on it, sry), gold companies, hacked accounts, etc, etc, etc, etc.

You realize about everything when it's too late to leave it.
I wish I knew before playing SRO, SRF. :)

Banning only makes goldbots to make new char and lower level areas will then be crowded by bots, and btw, do they give warning every inspection or...?

When i started in July 06, you could log on in 1 try. Server was populated at night which was when I played in the US. Jangan was bustling and pvp at south smk gave you something to strive for.

If I were to have joined a year or 2 later, I would def not be playing SRO at all. The situation is horrible for new players. Unless you know someone in game who can help you, it's completely pointless imo to even play.

As for this ban, I sense it will just be goldbots getting banned. Remember, this sort of massive bans happens pretty often. Now with the 3 strike penalty, there won't be as much pressure to ban lots of bots at once. Odds are, after sep or oct, things will go back and JM will stop banning ppl. Either that or they are cleaning this game to attract new players and will be introducing SRO 2 to hook old players that got banned back.

So from what I see is that users that use a bot/loader have 2 strikes before they call it quits? Guess they really don't want to ban users. But what about the users that get "This client isn't the original" w/e the actual msg was. Do they also get a week ban? Hmm

Sorry but i had to :P im pretty sure smk wasn't around back then

On Topic: This would certainly clear the servers up alot if botters were unable to log on for a week.

The only interesting part here is the word "monitoring". Clearly they are unwilling to do enough bans manually. So unless this is an automated system, nothing is gonna change.

why do you people talk and worry so much about bots all the time? They wont do anything about them so dont worry about it. Having theories about GM's and why they allowed is like beating a red headed step child on a daily basis.

No i've got the message on all of my chars that dont have premium. And on my char that does, I havn't got it. I'm using the normal client too.

Joymax isn't going to do anything about BOTS period.

the more filled up the server the more perimium players will buy...joymax is happy .... bots are happy...and noobs who p-lvl are happy as well...

well it would be nice to go back to my char on isro.. but trust me this wont last, its cuz of that gnw whatever shit, and also for people saying joymax wont want to lose money, thats dumb, more people will buy silk to lvl up faster because botters might not even noticed the time going by where as a hand grinder would. the silk prices are kind of outrageous tho compared to other versions of sro lol

That is something I'd like to know.

Doesnt look too serious...if they were wouldnt they be doing instant bans? Think about it..

I don't think they need instabans. You go to your friend's house, who started botting but you don't know it. You log in his computer (bot software running in background but you don't know). BAN!!!

Unless bot software simply can't run 'silently' and it would be obvious that it's running. I mean, if you have a bot, are running it, and then 'restart' the SRO client, does the bot still run, and just waits for a new player to log in with ID/pass?

a bot has a gui. you would be aware it was running.

SRO runs full screen (usually). Couldn't you start up your bot, minimize it so your friend doesn't see it, open up SRO to the login screen, and let your friend log in?

Similarly, you could start up some clientless bots, minimized. Then let your friend start SRO and log in his legit character... ban.

I can see things like that happening, which is why the 3 strikes rule is probably a good idea. I guess bot companies can try to get around that by recreating their characters every 2 times they are caught, but they'd never level then.

If I may say something. I was stalling over night, when I woke I I got the reinstall Silkroad error. So, I reinstalled it. Stalling again and a few days after I get the same error AGAIN. I didn't use any bot/loader/clientless/anything, but a legit client like I usually do. The era of [GM]iBanALot and [GM]iBanToMuch has came. Quit as long as your account isn't banned, yet.

why would anyone just start their bot and hide it. besides there being a gui, if you havent seen screenshots on this site, most bots affect things within the game. some bots change your name to appear as the bot companies name, some bots put their name on every item right below the items name. a good many bots have start up messages, and/ or require a loader, all of which appear to have start up messages and other messages in red in the corner, and sometimes pink gm messages. if your running a bot, and you arent mentally retarded, im pretty sure youd know.

PR0METHEUS wrote:

this i can possibly see... maybe. though i dont think a legit client would run, i really dont know how clientless works in that aspect.

they ban old/inactive/non-silked accounts during this time every year. ask barotix about it, he can relate.

I didn't buy silk on it, but it was a freshly created account. While my friend who went over to the bot horse doesn't get the error... is Silkroad trying to get rid of legits? <_<

if you use it solely for stalling and such, then you have no need to ever buy silk, therefore it is a purposeless account. it goes bye bye. and what the **** is a bot horse??
