yeah i'm sure many have thought about it

In a recent thread i read that joymax is on the korean stock exchange
so the thing is doable by us, the humble customers :

take one or several thousands silk-buying players.
instead of buying silk, they start buying joymax shares every month.
they POOL their shares
and they end up getting over 50% of the company's shares
deal's done :

no more money wasted on developing other games
all revenues going to sro.

so much could be done
because you realize that game companies treat us like dumb stupid cash cows don't you?
like when they have a somewhat successful MMO, what do they do? They invest its revenues into developing another game instead of improving the current one WE are paying for !

like funcom with anarchy online : they made age of conan... yeah, like that's what i want as an anarchy online player, right !

you know that the corporate structure is a fascist tyrannical structure?
some claim even that it is, among the three tyrannical structures that have grown in the 20th century, the one that has best survived and won the race.

the two other types of tyrannical structures being communism and nazism :)

something's fishy when the customers, who are the support of a game company, are not listened to and the product (the game) that links the customers to the owners gets screwed up.

i've seen it happening in other games than sro, of course.
isnt it time the players took power in this structure?
when you think of it, the paying customers are the ones holding the power there : the money revenues !... they're just disunited, but if they did unite they could rock the companies.

hey buddy, no more goldbots... you work for us now, you do what you're told, thank you:)

but taking things from above... imagine a game that is directed by its players gathered in an association... what would things be? Couldnt it be much more interesting?

and arent we stupid to give our money to people who do what the hell they want with it ?
can't we pool our resources and create our own games instead of being stupid beastly consumers?

and of course, the same idea can be applied to other areas than entertainment. And it is.
That's why the old tyrannical corporate structure of game companies is getting old.

I don't think they were ever obligated to reinvest into this game since we don't pay any kind of service fee for Silkroad. You can feel ripped off, but really you are getting exactly what you pay for. That is the strategy of the F2P model. Remember the game is same as a product and I'm sure the company knows it's own product better than any of you and by that I do not mean where is the best place to camp for tiger girl. They have the hard data, projections & cost analysis to make their decisions on. They are not neglecting silkroad because they do not like you as a person. They have a plan for this product , they know it's potential based on what they are willing to invest into and that seems to be acceptable. I don't think realistically any game like this could ever succeed if it were run by the players as you suggest. Because it's best to be somewhat detached if you must make any kind of objective business decision...u know , Dont get high on your own supply lol

ingame experience doesn't mean anything in this. It doesn't matter if you handgrind from 1-100 with no ticket... you still don't know the game the way Joymax does , as it relates to a product in a business market, none of us do really. We can only estimate and project based on the numbers that are made public, an that is nothing compared to what the company has at its disposal. This isn't your uncles dry cleaning shop for pete's sake this is joymax!!!!! :banghead:

silkroad will never be good enough to play even if it was 100% legit. There is no skill to the game, just whoever has the most money wins.

In WoW u can't trade high lvl gear, it Gets "Soulbound" to your character once u pick it up, meaning that you cannot trade it with an other real player, you can only use it for yourself, vendor it or destroy it. To get good at wow, you need gear, for that you need to raid with ur fellow Wow players xd and for the raid to succeed you need skills! Its a big cycle: Skills --> Succesful Raid --> Gear

or

Skills --> Gear, since you can go full PvP (Player vs player), which really doesnt'require any raids or such.. or full PvE (which is against mobs and such xd) I myself preferred the PvE side of the game, i liked the teamwork and the feeling of joining into a newly released raid.. and the storyline of each and every raid is pretty much fabulous.. Aaah yes... good times..

I just assumed it was a mime with white face paint beating up a coal miner with dark thick coal dust, dirt, grime, etc all over his face because the mime was pissed that the coal miner entered the mine's invisible box.

And you cant target a player, and your character will automatically run over to him to fight.
You have to walk and follow them yourself with your keyboard/mouse.
There is techniques to move and turn in wow, and it requires certain "skill".
You also need to know what to use and time it perfectly.
And there is no health and mana pots.
It's still a boring, addictive game though, don't start it =P

If we use today's fx rate, the total market cap of Joymax is ~148.2M. I don't have any of Joymax's FSC filings (their equivalent of our SEC) so I wasn't able to figure out what their EBITDA was for the prior year. The Asian gaming sector has a going rate of 8X EBITDA when it comes to M&A activity.

So you'd need roughly 75M USD to purchase ~50% of their common stock. Add a 25% premium on top to make it very difficult for the existing shareholders to refuse and we arrive at 93.75M. We've got absolutely no idea how much they diluted themselves when they listed on the KOSDAQ. Anyways, its safe to say that we'd also have to buy out their preferred shares, which remain private. In case you haven't yet figured it out, it is 99% likely that the preferred shares would still hold more voting rights than the entirety of the float on the KOSDAQ.

So anyways, if you have 93.75M laying around for a compelling hostile bid and then possibly an equal amount to buy up preferred shares, go for it.

If everyone saves the amount of money they spent along with spending the amount of money they spent last year (Revenues of 26M USD), it'd take 4 years to garner the money. Keep in mind, you're looking at 190M total expenditure just for the common stock. Also, that is assuming that the company doesn't experience any growth.

If you were to just save the money and not pay for premium items over the next 4 years then Joymax would simply go out of business and there would be no Joymax to buy.

Disclaimer: Without getting a peek at Joymax's prospectus to be listed on the KOSDAQ all of the above is nothing but speculations and a result of my boredom

Here is a thought:

Have everyone quit Silkroad for a year and cause valuation to go down and then make a bid. It'd be cheaper, and given the age of the game Joymax would probably be very happy to divest it to you.

Solution to your troubles: quit Silkroad and stop bitching about Koreans who were intelligent enough to create a game that made you addicted enough to consider a takeover bid all the while making it perfectly clear that their company goal was to provide maximum return to their shareholders (which is precisely the function of any company). It is unfortunate that the obligations of the company management and utility of their customers do not seem to meet in an amicable place. Play on a Pserver!
