garrysmod is a sandbox game where you can build/tweak/mod/script every single item/object/texture/you name it, from ALL source-engine powered games.

(Cs:s, cs 1.6, DOD, DOD:S, HL2:DM, all other HL series, team fortress 2 and a few more).

you have a load of tools are your disposal to make everything you could possibly think of, no really, there are NO limits to it.

I was really into the scripting and made some awesome stuff back in the days with my mate

It's VEEEEERY custom because the community can create weapons (called SWEPs) add addiptional content (addons) and gamemodes

Play around with physgun, pose ragdolls, make cars, make fortresses you name it.
