I guess we all know or thought that Napoleon is short, however there is a lot of evidence contradicting this. So how was this myth born and how has it become such a widespread conception of Napoleon?
In great lines, this is what I want to write a paper about; misconceptions in history. I'm not trying to write about one person however, I'm trying to establish what the factors are in the creation of a widespread misconception. I think great leaders such as Julius Caesar and Alexander the Great are the most interesting so I'm writing about 'great leaders' in general.

This is my last year in high school and in Holland we make a 'profielwerkstuk'. It varies between schools what this exactly entails, but in my school it's one of the most important things this year.
Because this is the final paper this year, and I am doing VWO (='preparing for university') I need to make something that is not like the usual high school papers. It's supposed to show that I am ready for a scientific level of education.

So I'm looking for history books/essays/websites that are about this subject. The problem I'm having is phrasing this subject for google searches and stuff. I've called it "The influence of perception of great leaders - How the masses forms opinions of our history's greatest leaders", it's just not a googley title (I get cookies for writing it in English). But yeah that doesn't matter too much.
So this is a long shot, but you never know; I'm wondering if anyone knows where to find any good information about this?
I'm also still not too sure which great leaders I should use. So if you know any great leaders whose legacies are filled with a lot of misconceptions, do tell.

:)
