building a custom computer and needing some help

Tip: Cut down on the keyboard, that's a Farking waste of money. It's an OK keyboard, but keyboards are keyboards. Macro keys are macro keys.
Suggestion: get a semi-simple keyboard. What are your demands when using? A simple keyboard gives you the same comfort as a high-end keyboard. The little display on the G15 is so pointless one couldn't even explain it to you. Way too expensive. I got myself the OCZ Alchemy Elixir keyboard, and it's mega cheap and mega quality.

What are your demands on keyboard/mouse? Because I think your setup on these 2 is insane.

I would highly suggest cutting down on your mouse/keyboard and spend that money on a proper video card because the one you selected is quite frankly crap.

What are your demands for graphical use?

not bad not bad i'm running a 9400 gt right now and its an alright card but i would say a 9800 version would last a lot longer.

this setup cost me close to 400-500 because i'm borrowing the graphics until i buy a bigger one. so far this setup has not failed me once.

amarsia thats a nice setup but i'm wanting an itel and that case i have picked is one i really want badly, so i may use your setup except with the mobo, CPU and case i picked and use the rest you suggested except the psu since master Wong suggest one i will go with it as for the g15 it was highly recommended by some WN members that have it plus i can find it cheaper elsewhere so don't worry about the keyboard and mouse twysta but thank you for the tip, i have a budget of about 600 dollars, maybe a bit more not sure till i get my tax return in direct deposit

the amd chips are cheaper and offer good standard compared to intel

i suggested 650 as 500w isnt much and with 650 you have more room to upgrade later

nothing wrong with the amd phenom I or phenom II if you want more overclock but i doubt your in need of 3.4ghz anyways

well i'm not gonna do any major hardcore gaming but i do want a 3.0 to 3.4 cpu speed since i will be getting some games that need it since this is my first custom built pc for myself i guess i could give amd a try since most of my computers are using an intel maybe a first time change would be good, cpinny what exactly is that supposed to be? lawl

that wont effect your gaming that much im running 2.4ghz and iv not had problems with crysis on my 8800gt gfx card and thats as demanding as it gets right now

yea, sorry about that, i've been up since 5 am this morning trying to finish compiling my custom pc parts for when i get my tax return
in soon

well i'm planning on getting GH 3, vegas 2 and gonna try out star wars TFU USE for pc and TFU does need a 3.0 GHZ to run it so i'm wanting to try to get a bit more above what it needs which explains my need for 3.4 also mw 2 for pc does need it also

checked its 2.4ghz min but that dont really matter i used to run games on my old laptop dispite its ghz been lower then the min

you really only need 650 if you are planning to sli/crossfire later on or attempt to power the dual gpu cards.

most of the time its the type of chip over ghz i'm pretty sure you need a 3.2 ghz if you are running a single core but with a dual core all you need is 2.4 ghz to run any game on the market.

Use the i3 integrated gpu until you have money to get a better gpu. From what I've seen Intels integrated HD chip isn't too bad of a performer.

i3 will easily overclock past 3.5Ghz.

No reason at all to go for the 540 over the 530, save your money. That tiny increase in clock speed isn't worth it, especially with how well of an overclcoker the i3 series is. Like I said, the 530 should hit 3.5+Ghz easily. Go with the Asrock board..it's cheaper and probably oc's better. Unless you need more pci slots..don't see why you would.

Scrap configuration 2, no reason to go with a 775 dual core with the cheaper, more powerful i3 alternative.

Third, do you need a hard drive?

Ok, here is what I would do with $650..it's hard to beat this:

Scrap that case for a cheaper one could save some $$$. Notice, that shopping cart has a harddrive. Do you have an OS?

400w supply with that fine maybe 650 is a little much unless you have plans to use it but 400w supply will need to be upgraded pretty quick if you want to say upgrade gfx card better to spend the extra $50 get the one i suggested and have the room, i mean if you want to overclock (you can with that case) your going to want more juice to play with

i would say 550 would be more then enough for most mid level graphic cards even with overclocking.

i would say 550 would be more then enough for most mid level graphic cards even with overclocking.

but we agree 400w is too low lol but with psu you want to check them out make sure they are good a stable power supply = stable computer

well i do have windows xp home edition, for a hdd i was gonna pick up a 250 or 320 from wal mart, thing is i only have 600 or 700 to work with, if theres parts ya'll can find that i can get with a budget of about 600 dollars, max is 700 than i would greatly appreciate it please post the links so i can compile them into separate configurations and bookmark them

hdds are cheap theres no reason to go under 500gb these days for the price. would stil def suggest amd phenomx4 II as its cheap good chip but the i3/i5/i7 are all good too i7 can be pricy though

I posted a complete list for $650.. It's going to be hard to beat that. Hard drive included...

The corsair psu is fine for that build.. the i3 doesn't use very much power nor does the 5770.

pretty much you can buy a dual core from intel or buy a quad core from amd for around the same price now. i mean come on a 3.2ghz quad core from amd around $160 then a i3 for $140 and a dual core i5 for $195. though the normal i5 is $200 for a quad core......... but you can't beat the $100 quad core

anything over 3.2ghz is really just pushing into the realm of uselessness besides from what i can pickup he wants a budget computer that will work very nice right out the box almost. thats why i would suggest the 955 or i5 750 or even the 620-630 if you really just want something cheap and will run anything you throw at it.
