waaaay too many ideas.

What do you prefer? What do you like? I find I like grinding but also helping people out with buffs is cool, so I went bard with a little cleric. But that's more a support build.

Wanna tank mobs, help a pt? warrior/cleric
Solo more often, Chinese hands down, int nuker, bower, str glaive.
one-shot a lot of mobs, AOE attacks - wiz/bard, wiz/cleric
Cool debuffs, DOT's - warlock
Pure cleric - only party play, pretty rare

There's a few posts here about the differences between Chinese and Euro. Take your time with your choice, unless you like grinding a char to 20 and then rerolling.

You're so cheap.

OnT:
About class and blabla, read up on them a little, search youtube on PVP and grinding videos. But a good beginner character IMO is Pure Str Glavie, good tankers but also good damage.

Welcome to sro! i wasnt expecting someone to join at such a late game period but it is heartening to see an addition to the new and (hopefully) legit member of the family of SRF :)

pssht. come venus. iris is for people who are iris...ish.

firstly you have to identify whether you want a strong character with handicap or an average character without much restrictions.

Euro has 15 seconds potion delay, for both HP and MP.
Chinese has 2-3 seconds potion delay, similarly.

There are different types of classes within the euros.

Melee has Warrior and Rogue
Caster has Wizard and Warlock
Buff has Bard and Cleric

WARRIOR
Warrior is your average meat-tank, used to lure and taunt monsters to himself so as to prevent the party's casters/nukers from getting hit by the monsters. By logic, in most MMORPGs, aggro'd mobs will tend to hit the highest damage dealer as they are a threat. However. when a warrior taunts the monster, it will be unable to change its target from the warrior to other characters in the party, thus making it safe for the damage dealers to do their jobs.

Warrior is also an aggressive player in the PVP arena, both in solo and group areas. Their 2handed sword passives increases their critical % while dual axes gives bleed and stun status that is useful in bringing down their enemies. Warrior's notorious 2handed sword attack, Dare Devil, is one of the most devastating attack in the melee fields, only rivalled by Rogue's combo attacks. A well placed critical in any of the Warrior's attacks will prove to bring down the enemy. Warriors have a wide selection of subclass, separated into Offensive and Supportive types

Offensive: This type discards any chances of saving oneself by concentrating on bringing down your enemies fast, to prevent a similar fate to oneself. Rogues, Warlocks are the ideal choices for this type of warrior, as Rogues deal enormous damage and have the advantage of Crossbows, giving them rang. Warlocks have a series of debuffs that weakens the enemy's defence and offense, making them an easier target.

Supportive: This type braces oneself for the long battle ahead, being more versatile and hardy as compared to the Offensive type. The only choice you really have is Cleric for the HP recovery skills (i wont list them out, its too long and i have so many other classes to cover), as Bard will not serve much purpose besides Monster Preemptive Attack cancel skills, or "Noise", and Speed buffs "Moving March".

ROGUE
This class is one of the highest damage dealers in the melee class, and has 2 weapons of choice. The Crossbow, and the Dagger (techically they are dual daggers but...yea). Rogues have been used and misused by good players and noobs who think they are pwnz0rs j00 arses bad ass players. Their weapons have the highest critical rating possible (correct me if im wrong), 18 crit is the highest i've seen. This allows them to deal critical damage swiftly and as they always say, crits are what kills in PVPs. True enough, they are very good PVPers and excellent solo players in PVE. Crossbows (or the Xbow for short) prove to be great for killing monsters from afar before it injures the player. Both the Xbow and the Dagger has a power boosting skill called Crossbow Extreme and Dagger Desperate. For the 2 skills to be activated, user must sacrifice a certain amount of HP/Defence (please check the data yourself, i cant memorise everything :P) in return for extra damage. This is THE most essentical skill for Rogues as it can increase their damage by tenfolds. ok maybe not that much but u get the point.

Offensive: Rogues have similar options when it comes to Offensive subclass. The Warrior and the Warlock. Refer to Warrior Offensive subclass section for info

Supportive: Rogues have an additional Supportive class entry: the Bard. Rogue/Bard do extremely well in PVE. Because of their Dagger Desperate/Crossbow Extreme skill, their defence has been dramatically cut. With the help of "Noise" and Speed buff, they can move swiftly and quickly thru and about aggressive monsters without being hit, coupled with the crossbow, can take out enemies in a second without risk of dying.

Wizard
Your bread and butter nuker. This class possesses THE STRONGEST NUKES (Magical attacks) IN THE WHOLE FLIPPING GAME. They are your average damage dealers that does ridiculously high damage on monsters AND players alike. Obviously everyone wants to be Chuck Norris, the servers are filled to the brim with Wizards (and most of 'em are bots. surprise~) They have 4 elements at their disposal: Earth, Ice, Fire and Lightning. Earth is mostly AOE attacks, Ice has a combination of single attack and aoe. Fire is plain songle attack and lightning...im not sure :D. There isnt much to be said about wizards. except that in PVP, because of their retardedly high damage, they are also vulnerable to anyone who can take their first nuke. So if you cant finish anyone with 1 hit, most likely you'll be kissing the floor soon.

Offensive: Warlocks. Warlocks. Warlocks. This is the only sub worth taking for offense, and truth to be told, i've never seen a single Wiz/Lock in the 2 years i've been playing this game. This is THE SINGLE MOST POWERFUL CLASS...for group pvp :D Warlocks are all about bringing down the enemies' defence and offense, coupled with Wizard's disgusting damage, you can expect even tanks like warriors to go down quite quickly...only in group PVP. in 1v1 pvp, without cleric subclass to heal, you'll die in a matter of seconds. literally.

Supportive: Bard or Cleric, reasons as similar to rogue and warrior

WARLOCK
IMO This is THE most unique class in the whole of SRO. No one can beat the casting speed of curses (DoT damage). No one can beat the casting speed of debuffs. No one can beat the rate of durability going down -.- Welcome to the world of the Warlocks. They specialise in making the enemies' defence and offense go down and further increase the damage of their DoT attacks. Their attacks further gives other statuses that can either slow down the enemy, or deal even more damage. They also have the "Strap" skill that allows them to gain Berserker in a matter of minutes, while other classes may take up to half an hour if solo grinding. Warlock is also awesome for the wide array of skills in its arsenal. However this class has been neglected for far too long as people find its lack of visual epic-ness a turn off (especially lil kids who want to be all Jackie Chan and stuff). However, Warlock is the 2nd fastest solo leveling class despite the unpopularity, and is the most tankable INT player ingame (besides chinese) due to their life leech skills, and stun skills, and many other skills that you can find out in the guides section. This is the most versatile class to take :)

Offensive: Wiz

Supportive;: Bard/Cleric

BARD/CLERIC
Most people who take bards as a main class has a Cleric class. These people are PURE buffers. Bards have Dances and Tambour that helps guard the party and absorb damage, and also increase the party's attacks and attack ratings. They also have the ability to heal MP for a short period of time (another necessity due to the euro pot delay). They have the Noise skill and the Speed buff. Thats is all for the bard.

Clerics are the most popular subclass in any MMORPG that you can find. Their ability to heal and give buff to party members prove to be invaluable and if you think clerics cannot be offensive you are dead wrong. Clerics gain a skill called Offering and Pure Offering that consumes 95% of their HP in return of a massively disgustingly high damage attack. The most powerful attack in the whole game. this attack has 967% (i dunno what that means, but the higher the better. and 967% is really the highest i've seen in any skills :P). However, if that skill doesnt kill your opponent, you're probably dead. Clerics have the skill Recovery Division that heals your HP little by little when activated. Thus Warriors with this skills most probably wont die. unless they really suck. like me. -.-

This concludes the Euro section. My fingers hurt and i cant be bothered with Chinese. maybe i'll write it when im free.

And i can totally foresee someone writing tl;dr

As a sub, I don't see any reason to take discord wave, it would only be speed and noise. Sometimes people take rave melody/harmony too.

The other thing we didn't get into is the negatives for each class.

Warlock - should have a sub or you will die easily, high SP requirements.
Warrior - best ones are those that use a combination of dual-axe, single-hand, and 2-hand skills in addition to a cleric sub. Also kinda SP heavy.
Rogue - more solo Euro than most. Not always wanted in a party unless you're daggers only - and then only sometimes. Despite being a STR class, no shield means you die a little more often than a warrior.
Wizard - squishy. Pure INT means low HP, high damage. Best with cleric subclass for survivability, but very good with bard too.
Bard - also squishy, pure INT, means same low HP but less damage. Luckily you get the fastest nukes. Pure bards are ok, but really needs cleric.
Cleric - not too many pure clerics out there, as the skills take a long time to cast and it levels slowly. I find this class to be the best INT tank (discounting lock/cleric) due to the healing skills, armor passives, and Bless spells. However, low HP, one high crit and you're down.

Most of the Euro's can be played by themselves as a single class, but they really shine with a subclass and of course in a party.

A lot of people take Euro's because they are more powerful damage dealers, but the pot delay is supposed to compensate for that. Also the skill point requirements are a lot less.

compare a rogue/bard ~700k sp to a fire/light/pacheon build ~1.4 million SP:)

Wow, i'm seriously impressed that someone spends that much time on making a summary of all the builds.
