- what's the probability of someone being good enough to donate money to save 1000 people?
- what's the probability someone will use that money for a good purpose over spending on girls, wine, food and expensive car?
- what if you kill someone important who has the capability to save the world? As important as Newton, Edison, Einstein? Without the boost of technology and medical, we'd be dead long time ago by the viruses.

You should probably envision this a bit differently to really see what's happening. Change the box with a gun, and put a random person in front of you.
Would you pull the trigger on him/her?

That's someone's life you're ending there, and for what? A big plasma screen and some nice vacations?
Imagine your mother being the person that gets killed just because someone wanted a carefree live.

It's not "Lol, valueing someone elses life over your state of being. Stupid" because your "state of being" is not at stake. We will all do just fine regardless if we get a million bucks or not.

This internet tough shit is really annoying. If you really would just kill for a million in the blink of an eye, why don't you just run up to people and shoot them and take their money? It's not any different.

How does killing someone, cause his surrounding a sad life for no reason is no consequence?

In everyone's life path, there are always curves. Curves marks important events and have the power to redirect the path. For example, your parents work hard to give you a good life with a best condition possible. If you die, your parents have no reason to work hard anymore, careless about life and no objective.

This is just an example how one death could affect another's life. So one button push would kill one life, physically, and kill lots of other life, mentally, figurely speaking. I'm sure you've already heard lots of time, even in this forum, that someone had his girlfriend died and don't wanna live anymore ,etc... more QQ

We are human, don't forget that. We're no longer animal. We have knowledge, we know how to plant trees and fruit plants. Making food for survival is not a big deal. Animals kill each other over food. We don't need, we can produce.

was talking about the concequence like in that Movie, that someone else has the choice to press the button too, after you pressed it, and that one of your friends/familiy die or something. Then i woudn't even do it for every coin on this planet

I don't agree here :(
You said people are dropping dead. Well, its because there's a reasons behind it. No one wants to die at their will. (Depends, maybe)
And you want to kill someone just for money, money for you? No? then money to help others?
So what you said had no sense at all. If people are dying because of something, which is so bad, you want to take someone life when this life is so healthy and it might help others? Again, this is 1 in a billions of chances. Anyone life can be taken, so i have nothing really to argue here. But i want to clarify that the people dropping dead are going to die because of their past (whatever happened to them), and the life you are going to take for the money is at your will.
And it's not about going to hell or heaven.

You totally missed my point.

It's a button. You would've pushed the button if a clown came up to you with it, releasing balloons and you win 1mil when you push it. After it he says: you just killed a random person.

Oh. I bet you're one who will go like : "OMG I KILLED SOMEONE WHO COULD HAVE SAVED THOUSANDS OF LIFES AND BLA BLA BLA!"
You over think it too much. As it is a completely random person, you will never know who it was and what it did. you could've killed a cockroach, you might've killed the biggest criminal in the world, or you killed Batman.
YOU WON'T KNOW WHO YOU KILLED. THEREFORE IT IS IRRELEVANT AND GOD WILL NOT PUNISH YOU BECAUSE FOR ALL HE KNOWS YOU PUSHED A BUTTON AND SOMEONE COINCIDENTALLY DIED AT THE SAME TIME.

Just Push the freakin' button. It's not like you will turn some one crippled when you hit the button. you kill him, therefore that person won't even notice it, because he/she is dead.

You're argument doesn't even apply..

The point was, if YOU could, would YOU press the button knowing YOU could save 1000 lives with the money.

Not 'everyone should push the button and then use the money for charity'.

It's your own morals that apply. If YOU aren't going to save the 1000 lives, don't press the button..

Putting someone in front of you changes the circumstances and is a completely different game now.

By pressing this button, you are causing some random person somewhere in the world out of 6billion people to die. At the same moment you are pressing that button, millions of others are dying also, while millions are also being born.

I can easily write that off on my conscience as a random occurrence not at all related to my button pressing skills. Getting the $1,000,000 would make that process even easier.

READ.

I am a farked up person with a farked up family. I don't know more then half my family. One of my aunts lives like, 10 miles away from me, never seen her, don't really care either. One of my uncles who lives even closer died a while ago. Didn't know, didn't care. I have family in Canada, Germany, Australia, the US and Switzerland. Never met 'em and their the biggest part of my family. the people who do live close are annoying the **** out of me, I only see them like 3 times a year for no longer then one hour each because they only come to some of my family's birthdays, on which I always work because I couldn't care less about my parent's and sisters' birthdays. I never even bother to show up on theirs.

I didn't grow up with a family motto of seeing family a lot. It's a miracle I know their names and faces. My sister and parents annoy the **** out of me, I could miss them but the chance they will die is small.

c'mon, I'm not very smart, I don't put connections that easy and that button will prolly give them a natural way of dying. My Dad is very old, my mom is always on the road and my sister races through forests on horses. There's plenty of ways they could die naturally.

It's just me, but I really wouldn't care. I'm farked up like that.

Like I said before, people die, they're being replaced by two new lives somewhere else.

That's such a garbage argument.

1) the person is 'random' and not in front of you which makes a huge difference
2) you're killing countless lives right now indirectly
3) a big screen TV and a few vacations is NOT anywhere near $1,000,000.

If you want to go moral extreme here, stop using plastic. Stop buying things made by children. Stop buying food that isn't grown near by/organic. Stop using gasoline/fossil fuels. ETC ETC ETC

All of these things kill people indirectly. Who are you to say not to take the $1,000,000 when you do all of these things as well? You're killing way more than 1 person using them even if it's a collective effort (everyone else has to use them as well). Using your own words, "it's not any different".

Also realize that the chance you kill your own mother is 1 in >6,000,000,000. She has a higher chance of getting struck by lightning while winning the lottery.

That wasn't the given scenario though :sohappy:

And by state of being I meant the way I thought/felt about it.
Could really care less

I don't understand how people can be so selfish to press it for personal gain. What if someone else pressed the button, they won £1,000,000, but they killed you, or your mum. Would you be pissed at them for pressing it? Or be saying "good on you mate, have a good life"?

Life's a bitch. Simple as that.

Yes you do. Unless you are forced by the gov't to eat inorganic food and use fossil fuels in turkey? :sohappy:

Oui. And if you look at it from a Biological point of view, we all have to die sometime.
What we do won't affect time for shit since we... How do you say..... We aren't even a millisecond in the grand scheme of the universe?

killing your own mother might be 1 in a 6,000,000,000 chance, but killing A Mother has almost 1 in 3 chance. Do you think those kids deserve life less then you do?

The examples you gave are also garbage.

Stop buying inorganik food? Do we have a choice?
Stop using fuel? Do we have a choice?

Your logic is ridicilous. "You're killing thousands of people indirectly, might as well kill one directly".

You obviously can't read.

He was comparing killing a random person with killing a person directly in front of you. So I countered with comparing indirect killing with direct killing. THAT is why I made the comparison. Not because I believe it to be true (though it partially is, and it's much more than 'thousands' of indirect deaths).

Not only that but if you think you can't survive without inorganic food and fuel you're an idiot. My chemistry teacher does it every single day. Are you that naive to believe that we need fuel for everything and buying locally grown food is that much of a challenge?

Also.. the point of the mother argument wasn't to point out that you would be killing a mother, but YOUR OWN mother because it is much more psychologically disturbing. Try to keep up =|
