Alright, well my desktop is 2 years old, the fan has become noisy, and it's getting outdated, since I cannot update the current ram, (DDR3), I decided to take my time, and build my own computer.

I have signed up with my current bank for my own credit card, since I turned 18 in September, and I will therefore be able to order pieces online, on www.newegg.com

Now a few of my friends have helped me telling me the compatibility issues and to watch out for the motherboard, and processor.

Anyone here want to put in their input and knowledge about which computer parts are available on the current market.

The million dollar question: What is my budget, well I thought $750(CAD) is more than enough. I don't want that super duper holy mother fcking shit computer, but I want one that is stable, quiet, and powerful.

For the lazy:
tl:dr: I need a good computer with 750$ as my budget, I can order online. Wana help?

Thanks, I think this question is worth the brains of this forum. Its not some personal issue, like how can I make a love potion for the girl I love.. lol I need advice from gamers, and photoshop users. :D

Thanks for the help, I will take into any consideration any advice, from any members, for any part of my computer.

Now for the computer itself.

I have a 750 GB Black Caviar WD hard drive already, and a windows 7 home edition CD.

Real life pictures will be taken to share with the community on how this computer is getting along.
This is a real project, no hoax, i'm dead serious about it, so I hope you can treat this topic with mature replies, and not a cool story bro.

THANKS!!! :D

So, 600 watt or more PSU.

A motherboard that will fit your processor. I would suggest selecting a processor and then selecting a motherboard.

If you want to future-proof the machine (basically if you want to get a newer processor and/or add a second GPU in the future) make sure the motherboard will handle it. Specifically, an LGA1156 for Intel and AM3 for AMD. And for the Crossfire or SLI cards you will want a motherboard with at least two PCIE 2.0 slots in 16x8x or 16x16x mode so you don't bottle neck (if you look in details under the expansion slots category on Newegg you'll see what I'm talking about).

Otherwise, it's up to you. No real argument for or against either ATI or Nvidia. Personally I would go with an i5 on an 1156 board and a 460 or 470.

I don't know much about pc parts, but just a tip. this saved me another 100 bucks: don't buy cd/dvd players, as you already have them from your old pc, just switch 'em around. Also don't buy a system box for the pc as once again you will already have it. Do make sure your cd/dvd player and box are compatible with the mobo! otherwise this tip is invalid :P.

When shopping with newegg just a little suggestion.. ALWAYS look at the combo deals. You can save a few bucks while shopping.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBund ... mbo.514080

Is an example. Looking for an i5 and that combo bundle shows up. Seems like a decent build if you put in a 9800 or w/e and then the RAM. Assuming you already have the thermal paste you should be fine for the rest. Adds up to roughly 850 though.

As for a build I'm just lazy to do that

So this is what you have already:

DDR3 RAM - (how much?)
750 GB Black Caviar WD hard drive - (this uses a SATA connection.)
windows 7 home edition OS - (32 or 64 bit?, just curious as it really should not matter.)

Do you plan on using your existing case? power supply? or DVD\CD Drive?

Im hoping around 120 - 140$ to be honest...

And the case I want to buy a new one because mine doesn't have many openings, and I need some on the sides, for air :D

So yea the case is a must to buy, I cannot keep running with the one I have sadly...

---------------------------------------------------------------

Currently owned (No need to buy)

-HDD
-DVD/CD
-Monitor
-Win7 OS
-Sound Card 5.1 Surround Sound

----------------------------------------------------------------

Need to buy ++ (Budget for each)

-Video Card -> 120 - 145$ (Push to 160$ IF NEEDED)
-Case -> 60 - 90$ (Push to 100$ IF NEEDED)
-Processor -> 150 - 190$ (Push to 200$ IF NEEDED)

With what you do have, the best option may be to get a barebones kit. I personally have not purchased such kits from newegg but I have from tigerdirect. I found this kit which seems to fill your needs and stays within your budget http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6327550&CatId=4910.

What you will get in the kit:

EVGA P55V SLI Motherboard - Qty: 1 $94.99
Intel Core i5 750 Processor - Qty: 1 $199.99
OCZ Gold 4GB PC10666 DDR3 Memory Upgrade - Qty: 1 $119.99
Ultra X-Blaster ATX Blk Mid-T Case - Qty: 1 $49.99
Ultra LSP750 750-Watt Power Supply - Qty: 1 $69.99

There are other kits out there for sure, and I'm sure newegg has good ones too which might be a better fit for you.

What you will still need:

Heat sink:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5267687&csid=_25 at $79.99.

Video card:
With the $170 or so left in your budget should be able to purchase a very nice video card. Like this puppy http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5250626&CatId=3669 at $137.99. Could even get a second one later on down the road and cross link those puppies.

I know these prices are in USD, not sure what the exchange rate is with Candian dollars, but they can't be too far off.

Good luck!
