before im sure most of our grandfathers would carry them around like we do cell phones. i for one carry around a pocket knife. for job purposes and just cuz its handy. the other day some i was walking with my gf and i saw a group of bikers. prob 6 ppl most likely in high school. and it seemed one of the girls got her jeans stuck on the chain of the bike so i asked if they needed help and they said yea. so i took out my knife and they were all surprised like a wtf maybe scared?
there used to be a saying when you would ask a man if they had their pocket knives and theyd reply i have my pants dont i.
seems like ppl see them more as weapons than tools now.
how many of you actually have pocket knives? maybe you carry around? or have one by your desk possibly.

i carry a pocket knife with me a lot. Good single blade, I sharpen it before I go camping and such, and its sharp enough to cuz my arm hairs with a gentle glide. Though I don't use them for attack people, I use it for a great cooking/cutting rope/being bored/hunting small game/and a good first aid device tool :sohappy:

I've got one at my desk, i hardly use it though.

Why would you need a knife, to get jeans unstuck from a chain though ?
Cant imagine that being to hard to fix with bare hands ^^

I used to carry one around when I was like 10 because I thought it was cool. Then I turned 11.

Lol used to carry a pocket knife when I went camping, but I haven't been camping in over a decade. Still have it, it's just laid up in a drawer, or somewhere.

I think the reason a lot of people don't carry one around often is just because of how touchy knife laws are.

So many situations where a pocket knife would have been useful for cutting something loose, opening a box, etc. I'd like to get me a good multi-tool honestly.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to carry a knife of any sort here (pocket, or otherwise. Unless you're in a workplace and can prove it's for work use). I know someone who got in trouble for carrying a knife in their esky to cut up their Orange for smoko... just a bit ridiculous.

You could probably get away with carrying a pocket knife if you lived out in the suburbs, but I wouldn't risk it in the city. Few places in my city do I feel unsafe enough to warrant carrying a knife.

Its illegal here.

People who carry knives are mainly scum or retards who think its cool.

ehh, those ppl are they people who wave it around it, ppl who need them and who like to be prepared for anything, have to have a knife, and a pocket knife best suits that interest.

I have to agree with the OP...Why do people look surprised when someone pops out this thing? It's just a tool...People need to calm down. Making a big deal over nothin

I used to carry a Swiss Army knife but don't anymore. It's annoying though, there are times when it could be handy.

I'd like to know where you guys live that it's illegal to carry a knife. It's not like a gun which has basically one or two uses - kill something or target shooting - a knife has multiple things it can cut. Cutting a human being isn't on my to-do list.
