i was just at tg on azteca and i got tg down about 95% of her health and i ran out of pills and got killed by epic zombie... then a warrior comes over using 2 warrior skills (im lvl 55 he is 81)
and gets the kill?

i thought you have to do the most damage, but obviously its just last hit now i guess?

ps, does it make a difference if after you die (consider my situation) if you release or dont release back to town...
i released and didnt get the kill.

I have witnessed someone to claim a unique kill while their character was lying dead on the ground, though it was a long time ago. I'm not sure if Joymax changed something in that regard. Probably you should've stayed dead, near the unique.

any damage you have done on any unique/mob will be reset to 0/nothing when your character dies :(

If you release you don't get the kill since it resets your damage. If you would have stayed there, though dead, your damage to TG would have been greater.

At 80 cap I was killing Yarkan and at around 5% of his HP left I died on my nuker but I lay on the ground dead and I got the kill.

I guess if you go back to town your damage doesn't register anymore but if you stay dead you get the kill.

if you hadn't gone to town, the kill would have been yours. easy as pie, when you die the damage stays but once you go to town the damage you've done is reseted

That gives another benefit to ress scrolls , for example : you did 40% damage on a unique ( if you stay or teleport to town , you won't get the kill ) but then you ress yourself , do 20-30% more damage and get the kill .

@penfold1992 : at least you learned something out of this , next time you will take more pills than you may need when going after a unique and you won't teleport to town when you do enough damage to a unique to get the kill .

That is complete bullshit that you cant get the kill if your dead. The one with the most damage gets the kill

OT: maybe the warrior zerked and critted? they can do quite alot damage.

You Can get the kill if you are dead but when you get very far from the mob or teleport to town your damage resets to 0 .

Just like if you almost kill a giant but it kills you first then someone else kills it before you teleport to town , you get exp equal to the damage you did on it
( you don't get exp for doing 0 damage ) .

Yea, Dmg is reset when you return to town. If you want the kill, have res scrolls, or stay there. Once it dies, and your name appears, go to town, reverse return instantly and you should be able to get any items lying around.

yeah, but if TG was low on HP, even if he critted the max "damage" that could be dealt would be equal to that of TG's remaining health. Overdamage isn't taken into account when dealing with who did most damage, only damage to the actual HP. So if he already put her down past the 50% mark then he would still have done the most "damage."

i beg to differ as far as my experiences go in regular grinding, but maybe its different with uniques.

Actually it is not different at uniques .

Joymax didn't make a "Unique" change when it comes to uniques .

No, it is not, as I have experienced this several times. for exemple on a yarkan kill, i done most damage to him and died, but i stayed dead and someone ended up finishing off. As I had done the most damage, the kill was mine, simple. Another example, when I was low level, I did like 80% on TG and died. Someone else was there and was obviously doing less damage than me and done less damage in the overall because I stayed dead and my damage remained.

I just remembered a funny thing that happened to me on csro. I had a nuker 30ish, was dealing with TG and had her on 30%. A d10 chinese bower comes in, zerks, with 2 skills steals my frag. Was so funny
