No skill animation delay. Kind of like the triple stab bug or the instant ghost spear bug, Joymax makes it so if you spam another skill once a skill is used, it cancels it. You can press the same skill over and over, but if you press the next skill too early, the previous one is cancelled, except imbue of course.

This would make bots have to wait before sending the next data thingy for attacks, making bots attack slower. Giving legits a slight upper hand.

This would also make noobs that spam buttons during a pvp lose since they would end up never using any skill and just wasting mp. This would make pvp slightly more interesting since it requires good timing, not look at how fast I can spam 12345.

Comments?

They'll just add a macro like setting in the bot, figure out what the min delay is, take 5ms on top of that and they're good to go.

I guess putting a timer in the bot would be a piece of cake. So it wouldnt solve anything.

Too much lag in the game for me at least. I don't really spam 4567 or w/e, but at least the game keeps track of the next keypress, so if I hit 4 for frozen spear and 5 for fire bolt, firebolt goes off regardless of whether I'm pressing a key. Pretty sure it doesn't keep track of more than that.

That just makes it harder for the handgrinders..and in pvp would be too much lag, SRO isnt exactly the smoothest game even if you have the best internet/graphics

Weird, I know it lags occasionally due to server, but is it always that bad? I've never had any COMPLETE freezing of my screen since I updated my computer last year, and it's not the best rig either.

Lag(delay in fact) is a serious problem in SRO. It makes movement(DW Cave) and battle a not so good experience. It wasn't like this when SRO started though.

I was around when SRO started... I think the server lags more frequently now, but the lag spikes and time was much worse back then.

I don't remember that huge delay in the beginning as it is now. Sometimes there was a 10 sec delay when doing something, but now there is not that long delay all the time.

Even when SRO started up, there was a delay. It is far more consistent now than it was back then. Back then you would have the occasional 5 to 15 second lag spikes. But in my personal opinion, I find the current constant lag far more annoying.

My thought exactly. They'll just add a delay.

Yep. As a programmer myself, this is extremely easy to do. Good idea though. Also the lag was always this bad. Sometimes worse.

Sorry what ? always ?

When i returned 1 week before the battle arena update to 1 month after the new job system , the servers had slim to no lag , after that and only after that , it began to lag bad .

The lag was one of the two reasons i didn't return to isro this summer (second reason is that most of my friends quit :( ) .

The servers lags badly back in the old days....You'd die a lot from the lag while grinding. Your client will just freeze and when you restart it you'd find your char back in town with no HP. I haven't had that happened for ages.

I didn't mean client freezing, yes that happened quite a lot, but constant delay wasn't that bad back then.

There's only one thing that would help against the bots, but Joymax would never go for it. We've been telling them for years how to fix it, but they're not interested in getting rid of the bots.

IIRC, when i start attacking, but for some reason the game prefers wizzes and my char waits until the noob wiz KSes me, i still lose MP without dealing any dmg.

A simple solution (@bots)would be to make every character owner in-game to write a single captcha slogan every time they use a return scroll or die etc

Incorrect. They tried Captcha and it just made things worse. Joymax don't know how to encrypt or protect anything. I doubt they even encrypt the packets containing username/password data. How do you think so many people get hacked? You can inject packets directly in the game as well... This was one of the many problems with the original Captcha that was used. Captcha is not the answer.

There are a number of viable options the could try, simply making the Exp/SP rates reasonable for a Western audience would be a good start. But that's highly unlikely. So instead, actually moderating the game properly is the only way. If people were actually getting banned - not permanently to start with because they cannot afford to lose customers at this point, but for long enough to show they are doing something. Word will get around that bans are back very quickly. This would have to include Silk buyers, but again, not permanently unless they get caught 3 times. Doing this would strike fear into a lot of people who have spent large amounts of money on this game and discourage botting greatly. Finally a protection system that isn't just a picture, something that actually runs in the background, detects packet injection and changes in the game files and hands out appropriate punishment. This would require constant updates, not just weekly, otherwise the bots can stay a step ahead. Game Guard does nothing, there is currently no protection against bots. All in all, less than a week of fairly basic programming - I know students who could program the protection system, its not difficult. They'd also have to hire some actual moderation staff, they could have used community members to do some of the work for free a while back, but there's no-one left on the official forums that would do the right thing these days.

This is how they solve the bot problem. There is no other way.

That's exactly right, and Joymax has been made aware of this solution time and again, but they simply don't care. Apparently they're making enough money on the game as it is, so why should they?

Increase the rates (So it takes ~3months to get capped / FFed), put more end game content, balance races - the only way you can save this game.

If it wasn't for that, I would have been 100% sure that you were trolling, but now I'm confused :?

The easiest fix- ban bots? I mean it really cant be that hard to figure out

Esro has 15x rates, still botting there

They should make the game more quest based, more quest rewards, etc, its much easier to get, say 200 items and get 20% than grind to get 20%
Not sure if bots can auto-do quests.

They should make new types of quests, with more story. The ones we have now just tell u to grind some more. Atm, the quest that has the most story, is that ShinMoo quest line.

^No one really bothers reading the quest background story anyways, its like 2 paragraphs long with horrible engrish. Still the quests from 1-50 or sooo much better now than they were before (i think they updated them or something), I was basically lvling off doing quests 1-52 on my chinese. After 50 the quests still give like ~10% but there arent enough of them.
