Yes there are alot of threads here and yes there are alot of repeated topics, but just because theyre "noob" doesn't give them the right to not use the search button. Making more topics on top of the already repeated topics doesnt solve anything. Heres an idea.....when you first log onto this site....have a blank page with a search(like google).

Because they're noob they don't use the search button. They're usually new here, and have a lot of question. They dont know about sh*t, and this way dont even know if the question is asked allready or not.

And they depend on this forum to answer they're questions, if allready asked, or if not. It's supposed to be a helpfull community, not some biased group of people complaining about every topic ever duplicated. Though in some cases justified.

It's all new for them, some kind of abracadabra, usually even this forum is.

This cannot be solved, will always happen, just give in allready. I did. It takes more time to flame a topic then to just answer the question and let it be.

I love how people always throw the 'Search button' comment at people.

I know damn well that search button doesnt work very well, and turns up hundreds of irrlevent results, even when I type in the exact phrase Im looking for and I posted it myself.

Go ahead and type in 'nuker build' in search, see what turns up.

Plz.

They're coming to this forum WITH questions. So the first thing they do here is obviously asking them questions..

Next time, read what I wrote entirely - not the select few words that you want to make an example of, use against me and look like a smart ass.

You cant speculate that every person here realizes to search a specific forum on their first visit either.

Look people are not all you, searching a newly entered forum before doing anything. So get off it.

If people had common sense enough to search the correct section with good searchword techniques, they wouldn't post technical help questions in site discussion, ask about builds in technical help, or PM me asking me not to ban their SRO account, as if I worked for JoyMax.

But they do anyway.

I'm very new here, but if (new) people would just read the sticky(s) in the “Character and Skills” fora prior to posting “what about this…”, the forum would be a cleaner better place. But they don’t, so you can tell them where to look (which many considerate people do) or flame them for being a noob (which many others do).

After about 2 weeks reading sticky and old threads it appears like you can learn almost as much as you need to know to make the “better” build (or at least the pros and cons of each) and understand better how the game works (how and why to farm / trade / etc…) to make it a more enjoyable experience (or how to avoid being scammed).

After approximately a month of visiting the forum and learning a lot, unless I want to read about bots, botting, botting, CCFers, CCFing, enjoy watching some noob get flamed or “Veteran Members” cuss each other out and call each other names the forum has no real additional value :banghead: .

How about putting a small pop up window each time you enter a section?

The popup will inform the user about the stickys and stuff :\
Or just put some kind of a notification that is noticable.
Recolor the stickys in red or something.

You can come up with alot of ways to get the stickys noticed.

I think they ARE noticable since they are on the top of the page and have a unique icon but not everyone pays attention to them.

lol, if ur a noob starting the game, u dont even known
what a "nuker" or a "pure int" or a "hybrid" is...

u cant use the search function without knowing the basics
of the game... even if u known what is a nuker, u still
need to known how to filter the results of the search...
Ya, for someone that is playing for some months, that
is very easy to do. But for someone that is starting to
play today, it inst...

If your not in the mood to answer this type of questions,
them dont do it. But saying to someone that is starting
to play today to do a search is not a very smart thing.

BTW, some of the people that like to say "use the
search function" created the same noob topics with
noob questions when they started in the game :D

The problem isn't that newbies have questions, or that newbie's question has been answered 500 times.
The problem is that people don't seem to notice all the different sub-forums on srf. They just come in GD and post about their guild, or ask a question about __ skill or __ character or __ quest or why their modem is not working. If new members respected a forum, followed it's rules, posted where things belong, and mods/admins took a more active stance at moving threads to their proper locations, there would not only be much less clutter and garbage on all forums, but hostility would decrease greatly, and it would overall be a more pleasent experience on the forums.
Edit-
I think it would be a good idea, for a massive all-in-one guide to be put together.
A guide on how to use the forum, links to threads about __ build and __ skills or whatever, all organized neatly with keywords and instructions on how to use "Ctrl+F" to find those keywords. And have this guide made available to people as soon as they register, either as a private mesage in their inbox, or an email, because we all know noobs don't look at stickies, but if they get a good private emssage with detailed instructions and lots of information I believe they would be more inclined to search for their information instead of bothering anyone.

I disagree.

I do think people notice the (sub)forums. But only after they get settled in and have learned to work the forums. Questions come first, common sense kicks in later. Anyway, they dont do this to dis-obey the rules or anything.

And i dont think lots of newbie questions make the athmosphere on this forum more negative. Sure there's some people whom get argrevated easy.. But there's always someone whom is willing to answer the question and have the matter solved.

Actually contributes to a nicer athmosphere, SRF; a nice place where everyone can just get in, be helped, and get out.

wrong....I made my account on... May something (cause my friend told me to), but I never really posted till....months later. Why? because , I read the stickys and all the useful threads out there. That alone gave me an understanding of the game ("Fly's Guide" areadly gave me an pretty good explaination of all the possible "good" builds out there). If I still didn't understand (which i didnt), i would ask my friends or my guild.

-To me, the kind of people that post "What is the best build" "What weapon should I use" "What is a Pure Int" "What is a Nuker" questions are they kind of people that are too lazy to read a few pages of "Sticky Threads"

-Being a noob in a game does not take alway your ability to READ, or understand. Especially when its a freaken sticky.

-Dont get me wrong, Im not messing with the noobs, Im just saying that with a little.... , the forum could be a lot cleaner.
