Is it really that easy to get +8? I feel like I'm missing something. People seem to get gold so easily and +7/8 look easy to acquire.

I don't get why the cheaters do it, though? The sell price of thief goods is the same as the purchase price of the goods, isn't it?

Cheating is an easier way to acquire something, thats why people do it. As long as its available people will do it.

They get 50m for each gold coin they get. 10m on loot is at least 3 coins.
