Yes, the Fire Force tree has many good skills a pure str character should have. Flame Body, Fire Shield, Imbue, magic buffs and passive for example can help out a lot.

Switch to shield, use skill, and switch back. Easy.

ive tried it and the skill goes away once you take off the shield. you give lousy advice
Fire Shield is actually a percentage reduction of status effects, which can help get you immunity to cold, along with jewelry.
I just now switched to a shield, activated the skill, switched back to a glaive, and guess what? The skill was still active. Please check your information before you go and tell somebody they give lousy advice. GG.

i just said that. and even if the skill does remain. have you seen any chance? if some1 used fire on you? post a screen shot of you with fire shield, and a glaive on, with burn, and one without, with burn.
i wanna see this...

You truly are an idiot arn't you. how do you think glaivers get immune to cold. Watch any good capped glaiver and they will be cold immune, explain how they do this with fire sheild...
Dainte: Fire sheild gives a % reduction in all status. That plus a % immunity blue you can put on jewlery can make you immune to cold/burn/shock etc

The fire shield effect does stay on even if you un-equip the shield . isight is right.

........omg.
I'm laughing so hard right now..... its like: "I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT".
Yeh fire shield is great. Im lvl 46 now and immune to poison, fire, zombie.
When I start fighting ishades and white face spiders I worry about ice immunity.
As a nuker however the phys related skills aren't not that unnecessary especially if you're sp starved. The phys boosting skills in fire tree are:
Flame Body series (phys dmg temp buff)
Flame Devil force (phys dmg passive)
Combined you get a 12% phys dmg boost at lvl 52.
Maxing the skills at 64 gives you 13% boost.
As a str build you might not need firewall either since you are stationary when its activated.

Are the immune affects on various pieces of eq and fire shield additive, or multiplicitive?

Is there any chance that they will fix this fire shield skill?
I don't think that it was supposed to work for characters using two-handed weapons.
It would suck when you have to delevel the skill if they fix it because it will become useless.
