im a lvl 20 and i have been doing trade runs. i would like to add that u shouldnt do runs if u are at 1% lvl 20 bc if u are killed (which is very likely) u will go back a lvl to 19 and wont be able to act a job. kill some more white tigers or chakji so u get up to 10% before u trade

This guide forgot to mention the easiest and safest way to trade, esp @ Lv20

Hire a scout

tell him what level you are and which ferry you are taking. with a scout, compared to a hunter or bodyguard, you have a bigger chance of:

- not getting popped
- not getting mobbed
- not getting pwned by a giant

if you're lucky to find a smart scout, he can approach a popper from the opposite direction and say something like "there are some trades on the ground" (and lets the popper follow him while he msgs you to pass safely somewhere else)

Just had my first try at Trading today.

1st run went smooth, killed a few low-mid levle spawn-thiefs, and made a little profit.

2nd Run, the return journey, pretty much the same.

3rd Run.....

just got off Chinese Eastern Ferry on my way to Jangan. Up to the top of the hill turned left along that road thru toger country. Halfway along that road got hit by about about 7-8 really High level thieves who were 1-shot killing me with well over 10,000 damage. Now, I bought a Thief suit and the info you get clearly states "DO NOT ATTACK 1 STAR TRADERS".

So what is the deal with all these hight level thieves who have to band together to kill a 1 Star Trader who is travelling alone?

Are they that sad that they need to feel superior in some way?

@ Redneck - player thieves or NPC thieves? player thieves shouldn't be able to attack you if it's 1-star. Like, they can't touch you. NPC thieves have no such inhibitions, and that's the basis of 1-star popping...

PC thieves spawn NPC thieves just like Traders if they have a transport with goods on it.

Since PC thieves can not directly attack a 1 star trade run. Some will attempt to user their NPC thieves to attack and stop a 1 star trade run.

It means that if you do a 2*, 3*, 4*, or 5* then any human player that has a thief suit on can attack you. If the player thief is about the same level as you, you might successfully kill him instead, but that's the difference between 1* and the higher stars. Yes, on a 2*, lvl 30 and lvl 40 thieves can definitely kill you, but lower level thieves *might* successfully kill you too.

soon they are coming out w/ an update for npc hunters which will prevent 1* popping. thieves will spawn npc hunters not thieves, which will not attack traders like npc thieves do. :D
Quote:
Now for the new trading system update:

1) It's just talking about how you can do 1 to 5 stars of trade and etc etc.

2) Here's where it gets interesting.

In this update there's a major change to the party system.

- A person who is currently in job suit cannot party with non-jobbing character
In another words, u can't party someone who's not wearing job suit if u are wearing a job suit.

- Trader/Hunter cannot party with theives

- While ur in a party, u cannot take off ur job suit.

Ah, and this part, is in my opinion, a great addition.

- When selling trade goods, for each additional person in party, there will be bonus job xp given. (when the trade is successful, obviously)

- When someone in party kills someone of opposing job, for each additonal person in party, there will be bonus job xp given.

- When the trader successfully completes the trade run, and sells off the goods, the hunter will be given money for his work.

- For each additonal person in party, there will be bonus MONEY made for a successful trade.

3) Trade posts.

As you can see, there are 7.

Right now, in iSRO there are 3, one for each of the towns, in the picture, 1, 3, and 5
I believe should be obvious. (its jangan, donwhang, and hotan in that order)

2, 4, 6, 7 are the new outposts that are going to be created in this update.

Simply put, these act almost similar to the trade posts already in the towns. A trader
could buy/sell goods here. However, in order for a trader to use these posts,
he must have completed a quest that corresponds to each of these.

2 = lvl 20+

4 = lvl 30+

6 = lvl 60+

7 = lvl 70+

The quest npcs are located at the same trading post spot.

4) This is just talking about the new way of purchasing goods.

As you can see, using the window, u can purchase the amount u wish with only 1 click, instead of clicking 99999 times

the first field is for amount of goods, 2nd field shows the money required, or u can
select the trade good size (stars? not too sure bout this) and it'll auto buy accordingly.

5) Now you all know that there are theif npcs that spawn when doing trade runs, or
when ur a theif with goods inside caravan.

In this new update, there will be theif npcs as well as HUNTER npcs.

For traders, theif npcs will spawn.
For theives, hunter npcs will spawn .

Now HERE'S WHERE IT GETS INTERESTING.

Previously, a npc theif will attack anyone nearby, this includes ANYONE.
Which means u can technically kill others that are not even wearing job suit.
(if u let ur npc theif and that person unfortunately finds it)
Also anyone (even jobless) people may attack npc theives, and npc theives
will attack them back.

This whole new update changes that all!

Normal Character(jobless) = Cannot attack or be attacked by theif/hunter npc.

Theif npc = Can only attack trader and hunter characters.

Hunter npc = Can only attack theif characters.

Trader/Hunter characters = cannot attack hunter npc.

Thief character = cannot attack theif npc.

6) Talks about caravan summoning here.

- Traders and Theives can only summon caravans.

- Thieves cannot summon a caravan inside of the town, nor could they bring
one into town

- Any character that has a summoned transport can not use any type of return scrolls.

7) This part is just about how they are going to reset every job items out there, and
refund it all in game gold. (goods, etc)

Here's my 2 cents worth of a suggestion to improve the game.

I personally feel that HUNTERS should be able to summon a caravan too.

1cent  So that he can pick up STOLEN GOODS and turn them to the Hunter Guild Master in the cities.

2cents  a part of the Returned goods' value could then be refunded to their respective owners, the guild takes a cut as a Bounty, the Hunter who turns in the goods gets a small cut as a Bounty n some Hunter XP too.

8) more chaos to the silkroad :D

I really like that idea. Right now, is there really an incentive to be a hunter, except getting hunter experience? I've never been a hunter so I don't know. I know traders can hire a hunter, but they don't have to. This idea would give hunters something more to do than just attack things that are attacking a trader (or just randomly attacking thieves for exp).

A thief can suit up, summon a transport, and run around looking for dropped loot. A hunter should be able to do the same thing, but with good intentions.

Well that sucks it had to happen to you like that. I guess that will teach you not to trust some random group of players who you never met before. Sometimes hunters will work to help thieves, or like in your case, are thieves themselves. It's best to only trust people you actually know, much like in real life. I wouldn't want to trust a random escort to help me deliver 100 grand of goods to a remote location.

the best thing to do is what SharpArrow stay the hell away from other traders

i learned this the hard way when high lvl thief came after me....

Note: some f*** high lvl traders WILL follow you so high lvl thief will spawn and kill you...this is VERY annoying..try your best to avoid any trader like it was the plaque

1. I used a camel - if a high lvl thief wants to jack your 1-star trade, he's gonna do it even if you have a horse, it just might take a little longer for him to do it. If he wants to, he can just attract the attention of a bunch of Earth Ghosts or Demon Horses and lead them directly to you = instant death and free loot for the thief. The camel has a lot more HP than the horse, so you won't have to use a gazillion pots when it's attacked by a number of Ghost Soldiers and NPC thieves.

See...if some ironclade horse human theif is trying to pop you...his theifs do 700-800 damage. And that's WITHOUT imbue. I did a trade last night...I seen d.w.'s gates and this damn lvl 60+ theif tried to pop me. 50 x-large pots wouldn't do. I managed to run for my friggin life.

It's just that I've been popped ALOT...and others I have trades that are no problems. Sometimes I get lucky and get a lvl 64 chick to guard me. ^_^

BTW I'm lvl 25.

Sometimes I just say I'll drop the loot. Which I terminate the horse/camel and run. The theif is busy picking up the loot and you can run.

Dying just sucks...exp lost. =(

From my very new and limited experience on SRO, I've not quite seen the advantage of being a hunter. I mean, all I do is use a very high amount of pots because I cannot rest a single second since the trader keeps moving (wise decision of course), but by moving it means I can only use pots to recover MP/HP.

This said, unless someone tells me you can actually make money being a hunter which I haven't seen other than being hired by a trader. You'll have every player thieves on your rear end in no time, to the point where I even prefer to escort people out of a hunter suit actually.

I do random escorts, I spot a trader, I analyse whether or not I can take on his or her NPC thieves, if so, there I go for the escort until I get bored with spending too many pots and either go back to grinding or escort some more.

As far as low level traders, my biggest problem, already mentioned is not player thieves, but player thieves spawning NPC thieves at you to kill you. I feel, and some may debate about the word I will use here, that this is somewhat cheating, there's no defense against this kind of action other than to try as hard as you can to stay ahead of this player thief which can't pop you at 1 star and knows very much that so takes the cheating route and pops you by using his own NPC thieves on you.

Well.. there's my 3 cents. Anyone can confirm there is no real advantage (financial ones unless you are hired by someone) at being a hunter? Is it only a money sank hole?

I think all traders should do 5 star trades all day. Hunter or no hunter. Should be interesting.
