In light of all the security concerns arising lately, I thought this would be an interesting poll.

I agree with that.
I never gave out pass/login, was very cautious and still got hacked. :(
If someone hacks me for a 2nd time, I'll be sad, but I won't quit anyways. Even if it's just to get my wolf back! :)

I recently changed my PW to an airtight one and have never downloaded a bot or visited any of those spammed Web sites. Yet, I'm still fearful of that day when I login and see my character stripped. Whether that day comes or not, I still worry about it. You never know with Joymax...

I don't play that much any more, but I still have a lot of valuable stuff. I'd just be so mad about losing all the stuff I spent so long working for. The risks are high for losing an account in this game.

That's exactly why I made this poll. I feel the same way. I use an email address that no one knows to register, use a 10-12 digit alphanumeric password, don't visit sites that would be considered a threat, and I'm still worried that one day I'll log in and all my characters will be nekkid. Maybe all these years in the IT field have me paranoid, but I think it's for good reason. I guess only time will tell.

Just another good reason to quit if you get hacked. It's just a game. I don't have a burden.

I'm not worried b/c I don't play anymore. When I was playing, yes I was a little frightened I'd be the next one you'd hear on the globals.

why be concerned?

If someone want your account and he has the skills he will get it anyway
the only thing that it will take is time.
and i believe there are not many guys who can do this so as long as you keep your pc clean and change your password from time to time (each week? maybe each 2 weeks?) just write it down on a paper nothing to be worried about.

Be more concerned over your own safety instead of the one of Joymax.

With the way JoyMax security is set up right now, you don't NEED someone's password to hack his/her account. All you need is a good Google search, a bit of patience, and for someone to use his/her real name and email address to set up his/her account. I think there should be a BIG FLASHING SIGN when you create your account to tell you NOT to use truthful information. It's sad tho really, that you have to fake your name and email address in order to keep your character safer from hacking. JoyMax could improve matters greatly with just a few minor changes, but for now I'll settle for them just reacting to customer complaints, and restoring people's accounts to them. Sure, losing all your equipment is painful, but not nearly as painful as losing your high level character that you spent months on grinding.

I wouldn't mind getting 'hacked'. Im serious. That would give me a good reason to quit, cause Im really sick of this game but cant quit properly. I dont grind anymore, just logs in to talk to my friends and guildies

Allthough if the hacker NPC's my dear Maddox I will get maaaaaaaaaad :x :( :x :( ! GrrrrrrrrRRR!

Im so over this.

My thoughts as well, 99% of the time the "hacked" person was hacked cuz they gave someone their account details to someone or they downloaded a bot but they don't admit to that part.

The other 1% is people who had a stupid pw like 123456 or one word etc

If anyone could be targetted just like that you'd see all the botters hacked and the people running round with sun+9 weapons and you don't see that happening.

The average hacked person is usually a low level who gave away their account cuz someone scammed them with a really hilarious line like, "Give me your details, I'll up you to lvl 80 instantly and leave you a sun weapon too".

There's at least one other group: the group of people that are well known on the internet, and used their real name and email address for their accounts. That's how I got hacked. If you check out the "forget your password" section on the silkroad site, you'll find out you don't NEED a password to get into an account. All you need is a well known person who used his/her real name and email address, and do some good Googling around.

There's said to be a 4th group, tho I have not been able to verify this, so I don't know if it's true. It is said that under certain circumstances, the game will actually send out your IP address to another user. Using that, and some weak security on the user's PC, a hacker may install a keylogger on the computer, and get account information that way. As said though: I have not yet seen proof of this, but some hackers claim to have hacked characters this way.

I think hackers who hack the accounts of innocent players, are wasting theire skills.

I think people who get theire account hacked, deserve pity.
(Sorry man/girl,are you on my server? i will give you a couple million to help you get back on track) :)

I think that people who get theire account hacked due to his or her own fault...also deserve pity..just in another form (I feel bad for you,but this could have been prevented)

I am not in the least bit worried about my account beeing hacked.

And i can say that with a straight face. 8)
