 Post subject: About PK2 Editing...

If someone can edit PK2 files to edit messages saying they killed some unique or adding a new attack animation, why hasn't someone fixed the poor translations?

My main concerns are fixing capitalization, spelling, poorly written instructions or correcting words which just don't seem right/not commonly used in English. Then releasing a iSRO Translation Fix. Names of things would remain the same, like NPC names and monster names.

Is it easy to edit the text or difficult (more difficult than a simple retype I mean).

i came to hotan here with my father when i was a kid. my father was a well-known assassin in baghdad. one day a family member of the man assassinated by my father foud out our place and came to avenge his family member. during the fight my mother was stabbed to death instead of my father.<br>since then, my father retired and came to settle down here doing the business related to defensive tools.<br>as i grew up to the age of a girl who can deal with customers, he began to go to europe to import defensive tools by himself and earn more.<br>we had little time together but were satisfied in the life. i also was pleasant to wait for my father.<br>whenever he traveled to europe, it didn't pass 3 months. and he surely got in touch with me anyway even though his return was delayed.<br>but i can't get in touch with him until now since he went to the central asia to sell the defensive tools 5 months ago.<br>of course i inquired here and there but got nothing. i cannot stay away from this shop thinking that he might send any message to me. so i'm just worrying and don't know what to do.<br>can you find anything about him for me? i'll pay you enough.

in the world of silkroad, there is no limitation to growing your character. starting the game with a race that you like, you can spend everything in growing only one ability of your character or you can grow various abilities.<br><br>i'll explain the balance system.<br>the balance system works as follows.<br>if the level of your character is higher than the mastery level, you gain less character experience but more skill experience.<br>the amount you'll gain increases or decreases by 10% per one level. but it will not decrease by more than 10%.<br><br>if you want to have the character learn many skills, keep the mastery level lower than your character's level. if you want the fast level up of your character, then keep the levels of the mastery and your character equal.<br>the highest level of all the masteries you have is considered to be your mastery level.

The problem is the sheer volume of text that needs to be made proper. There are about 30k+ lines of text contained within all of the text files. It should be possible to do anything with the text, providing you have the time to do it. You could make quest descriptions longer and more descriptive for instance. You would just need to get rid of all of the other translations that aren't used to preserve file size.

improper grammar is one thing, but right off the bat you start the game and it tells you to go and talk to general sonyheon at the south gate. erm... he's at the west gate of jangan if i'm not mistaken. the first thing the game tells you to do is wrong and has many noobs confused. i know i was. proper grammar can come later, how about fixing instructions that the game gives you at the very start that are totally incorrect. it just seems wrong on so many levels that that hasn't been fixed yet. kudos to joymax i guess. =|
