Actually, none of them. Dragon takes WAY too much time to cast, and pluto does little damage. Chain spear: for PvE only.

In the time you use dragon, a blade/sword has time to play 3 hidden blade skills --> chain canelled. Pluto might work, but chains get potted relatively easy. Pluto won't even scratch a capped glavie/blade.

Chains are useless for pvp. Only if you're chasing someone, hit chain.

that's a good point.. if someone is running for their lives and you can manage to hit them with a chain, that is a good way to do a lot of damage without them being able to 'get away'
i suppose it's also fine to chain archers since they have no kd/stun skills...
although i'm not sure how many archers these days actually enjoy pvps

biggest f*ckin lie ever, chainspear PLUTO is not a weak chain... its reletively fast, i used to be able to pluto chain ints in 1 chain, dragon just takes too long and its only good against people WITHOUT shields, keep in mind if your using it against another glaiver, they could stun you before the 3rd and 6th hits get in (hardest hitting) or they could knock you back.

If you're chasing someone, don't you want to use a stun to stop them running some more?
(I'm not a glavier so that's just my guess!)

stun is just a matter of coincidence, you can't use a skill that automatically 'stuns'
for running away scarecrows: i use the glaive throws

They're not useful in PvP vs ppl your lvl.. but if you're chasing a thief or something that's lower and you're fed up.. boom chain him.. or if he gets on a horse, you can chain the horse and it'll usually die..
in PvE.. it's VERY useful to have both chains. Fighting a giant with those chains = faster kill.. Faster kill = more time for killing other things
Pluto: Quick, powerful hits, chain last roughly 3 seconds or so...
Dragon: Long, smooth hits, last like 5 seconds or so.. this chain can usually take too long and is often not chosen as a first 69 chain to get But, it hits more then one mob at once, meaning it is super useful when you're getting mobbed while killing a giant or whatever
I personally use pluto much more in PvE.. and PvP (chasing thief or hunter who tries to hop on a horse ).. But, I still consider dragon useful during PvE Solution, get pluto first.. then hit the cap, then farm dragon

if you have a high crit glaive, and are fighting someone without shield. i don't see why not to use them.
( i only have lv32 skills) so sometimes all my attacks are cooling down, and the only skill left is chain. so i use it.

i only use them to kill noobs, other than that they're pretty useless in pvp against some1 of equal lvl/gear
& i avoid using glave chains in pve also, they run durability down fast

all you ppl are the:
(soul spear soul, soul spear truth, ghost spear mars)repeat infinite
type of generation....
truth is that both the chains deal out the most damage, and seeing that a str based player depends on his critical to be fully destructive, having 2 to 3 crits in both those chains or even more is really destructive force that leads to death.
all the newb glaivers do when they get a stun on someone in pvp with sss, they try to stun them some more with sst LOL! the stun duration might be random, but handing out a chain like dragon or pluto, which i prefer most, during that stun moment might just be the damage + crits to lay down a player.

Love em Chains, love em all!
Cant wait to get my next GT to de-lvl ice for Heuksal xD
But as for your question:
In my opinion they are pretty good for PvP, even tho they dont do much dmg and need a long cool-down, they DO give you the extra dmg, even if its just a tiny amount.
