im pretty sure they already did. Try runnign silkroad in windows xp compatability mode

All I did was right mouse click on SRO exe, I made a shortcut, select Properties-Compatibility- Click on check box saying Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows XP Service Pack 2 and press Apply button.

It works fine for me.
