So I've been reading a lot (A LOT) of threads on INT Hybrid builds and theres always the posts that argue that these builds are ultimately useless in later levels. I know that there are successful INT hybrids out there (SG, Master Wong) but what does the majority of the community think of these builds?
I know they lack the capabilities of Pure builds, but I just wanna know if they would be able to fare well in PvP against their pure counterparts. So far I'm loving my 2:1 int spear hybrid. I just hit 32 and I'm actually pwning lvl35 str glaivers

Actually, hybrid is bad at lower levels it only becomes stronger the higher level you get.
I would also have to add, hybrids are the most gear/alchemy dependent build.
As a pure str you already have great HP.
As a pure int you already have great damage.
As a hybrid you start with below average hp and below average str.
But, a hybrid will benefit more from each stat point than pure characters. A hybrid with excellent gear and blues will more than likely win against a pure with comparable equipment.
That is why hybrid were horrid at the level 60 cap and pre-tablet alchemy days.

Thanks for clearing things up for me Stallowned. Yea a lot of the negative posts I read about hybrids were actually from about a year ago so I guess that was before the cap raise. Still seems that the community's opinion on hybrids are still split 50/50.

I don't like that 2:1 iny hybrid. Supposedly they're good but they grind terribly. And if they can't block, how the hell do they win? it makes no sense!
Try 85/90% s/s hybrid. That's what I wanna be (Though it turns out I'm only 78% right now :S).
Though don't make an int hybrid on purpose. You should make pure str first (Though I think I'd prefer int hybrid over pure int. Pure int has TINY hp).

I don't have too much trouble grinding. I grind a whole lot better than most str builds my level. And about the blocking thing, guess it comes down to lots of pots and smart playing Quote: Try 85/90% s/s hybrid. That's what I wanna be (Though it turns out I'm only 78% right now :S). I was thinking of just pumping points towards int from now on but reading about Suicide Girl's and Master Wong's hybrids have me quite curious about 2:1 builds. Also, I'm not really sure if the 85%-90% path is really good for a spear character. I'd really like to hear some first hand accounts from those who have PvP'd SG or Master Wong. Heh I actually started off as str hybrid bow from 1-16. Thank god theres the cursed hearts quest

Well thought i'd jump in on this...I now have a lvl 69 2/1 Int Hybrid.. Fire/lite/spear..1st off the transition from 7D to 8D just plain sux...I don't know about other classes but it really took it's toll on me.. {See Alchemy}
I did farming in spots couldn't tell you how much total but all my skills are maxed in each tree to lvl 64 "Someone else can do the math" So far i find that with the exception of sos gear i take down most ppl. my lvl and a fair number above my lvl..Fire/glaive my lvl with same gear can go either way..
I do think that i can grind with the best of them but it makes me sick that in the end the game seems equipment dependant...If you have the money or the drops you'll fair better in PvP..Period.
I use 8D garms maybe i should switch to protector? I have no sos at all
My spear is lvl 68 +5 w/ +61 mag & +41 phy..Sadly i doubt i'll get an sos drop or ever be able to buy one so i can try for a lvl 72 +9 someday maybe...In any event i think they are a very good build but may need the sos gear more than anyone...

You sir, are very wrong. They grind great, in fact I have a 45 int hybrid and I ks glavie players very easily and level a lot quicker than them. Also, they are a hell of a lot better than pure int's in 1v1 pvp's. More hp and better damaging weapon moves... hmm while still dealing out tons of damage. Hybrid is meant for spear because of spears very high damage. (Oh, they can also stun, rainigul)

thanks koa for giving the rest of us newb hybrids some insight on how its going to be in later levels. hope u get urself a sosun drop
taint- +1 bro
It's only been a little over a month since I started this character and I'm already lvl 32 with all of my nukes. So considering that, I think we hybrids grind exceptionally well

this should have been said for hundreds times but let me repeat: hybrid build is good if you know what you're doing.

I already know this and it has been said a thousand times. I just wanted to know if the general populous of the SRF community places the INT hybrid on the same pedestal as pure builds or whether it disregards the entire class of Int hybrid builds into the category of "noob" trash. In general, my queries are based on hypothetical PvP situations in which:
1. A pure build vs. an Int hybrid build where both players have the same level of (high) playing skill
2. The two players have the same quality of gear.
3. ^^Can't think of any better hypothetical situations than the ones above ^^
I've read so many threads regarding the capabilities of Int Hybrids and none of the comments, replies or posts have ever cemented the entire potential of the INT hybrid.
Everything I have gathered from lurking threads are:
1. Hybrids are gear dependent
2. Hybrids will not have the same capabilities of their pure counter-parts.
3. They are good if played right (dUh)
4. Theories and biased opinions
What I really want to achieve from this thread is to learn from first hand Pvp experiences (from both the pwned and pwning sides) and not just to rely on the theories and inferences of other players.

Hmmm... after reviewing many posts again maybe success in 1v1 pvp really does just depend on the quality of the gear you sport, regardless of being pure or hybrid... And if thats true, that just plain sucks...

The Pvp on this game is all about builds...gear just makes your build that much better..the right build with the right gear and you'll be a good charcter but some builds are just shit out of luck..like a 2:1 int hybrid sword/sheild just unless <--- at lv 80 they should just went pure str blade cuz they spam knock downs the whole fight...plus give them a sun sword and they may get up to pure int dmg o_0. But...they are hard to kill with the knockdowns and the extra life..but their dmg is just hella sad..cannn't kill in zerk..cann't even kill pure int without their chest on..maybe they can kill if you take off your chest and legs i'll try it, let u know how it goes.

All at 80 cap:
Pure int
96% mag balance = 4.7k hp
Hybrid
91% mag balance = 18 str pt added = 800 more hp
90% mag balance = 22 str pt add = 1k more hp
86% mag balance = 36 str pt add = 1.7k more hp
i thk s/s is fine as long as mag dun drop below 90% bcuz his nuke dmg will suc k then
spear at 86% is fine too....all depend whether u wanna tank / do more dmg
PS: for those unsure to go pure int s/s or hybrid, go PURE int just for now...u can always switch to hybrid as u lvl up

hybrid int s/s at 80 cap w/ similar pimp gear, barely keeps up w/ me (pure str blader's dmg), i do 3k to him w/ kd, he does 3k to me w/ kd, how gay is that lol
hybrid spear just does a tinsy bit more than a pure str glave, so no, they can't kill also
pure str has most potential to kill, since they crit

Thanks for all the replies guys. You helped clear up alot of things for me. I'll just keep on going with my 2:1 int hybrid spear and hope that the cap raise would change things about this build. Maybe I'll start a str blader on the side

Hybrid INT spear can be very deadly. Keep in mind that your gear is exceptionally good. Give a hybrid INT spear a sun 64 +5 spear, and observe the damage
