Some might have used it as a "sign" and some might have done it for their pride as long as they keep their pride for themselves and stop spamming ot hatting other cultures then it is all fine by me.

Chaby open your mind for once and get out of that box you are living in, there is more explanations to a same situation (problem)then you might have thought of. a country behind their names has probably nothing to do with feelings

+1, nicely put.

just because someone decides to put their country code in their name makes 'em retarded?

Most likely you are retarded for bitching about a thing that "annoys" you that much

I see, for example, Rafgsjhbashj_TR, what do I think? Oh look, a turk! And I follow my way....simple as that

I don't build up rage just because some people like to have their country code in their name -.- its a matter of how proud are they with their country....and its also a way to identify themselves from their own country...useful for jobs and such ^^

Bat_PT
Silk_US
PL_Freak_PL
TR_Ultra_TR
Br_Honor

---------

Catastgh
LoLkzorz
Biatch
HouseShake
Millky_Way

is it that much of a diference looking at names with country code and names without? =/

as someone already stated its because its easier to find another person from the same country (more likely the same language) as you. Since so many of the people on sro speak english anyway there is no need for the english speakers to differentiate with the tags such as tr pl ger you are able to speak in your foreign tongue without having to ask.

I don't put my country code in my nickname, because it doesn't matter where I come from right?
I speak English, along with most of the SRO players, so I don't feel the need to ruin my name with my country code
Nothing to do with pride...
If I wanna find someone to speak Dutch with, i'll just ask where someone is from and continue the conversation in Dutch if they are Dutch too ^^

These people are nationalists. By that I mean they do not *generally* care about other people but those from their own country. They form guilds by country, make friends by country and help others by country. And when they piss off anyone, others will view them all as the same, because they choose to represent themselves as a group. This creates an atmosphere where any nationality becomes a target for hatred and stereotypes.

I find the putting those at the beggining or end of a name is kinda dumb to be honest. You wonder why alot of americans generalizes alot of races because alot of them who do use those act like complete retards and give their country a bad name and so on.

I saw a guild named HeroesUSA on Babel.
I guess most people who play it are from Europe and Asia.

I'd have to agree with those "anti-taggers" out there, there's no need to put _VN/_BR/_PL/_TR/ in your name, and tbh, if it is an international game, then you should speak the international-language aswell, which in this case happens to be English. Otherwise, keep it in pm's and the hell out of globals/chat.

1. It is ugly
2. ive seen many ppl with names like xyz_US orguild names like teamUSA
3. I dont think that they are trying to proof something, just showing their nationality and i find it kinda sad that it makes you think that your country is soo "better" just because you don't have a stupid tag in your name.

4. It is ugly, definitely ugly...

I think its because most people speak english and to distinguish yourself from the english people you put your country name in your name.

If the majority of players where from lets say turkey or india and did not speak english i would probably have a name with UK in there to tell everyone that im british and maybe dont speak turkish or indian etc.

Some go as far as repeating it 3 times in guild names and character names.

But you dont see BoB_US or a guild name US_Guild_US
Why?
Why don't American players show pride. Or is something else?

Have any of you considered trying this before x)?

first of all, waste of space for names.
second, we are not american, we are eurpeans or mexicans or asians that migrated here.
third, its retarded to put your name there, when turks or germans put there name with their country, it makes people want to kill them for being that race or heritage.

i dont know about you but im positive im an american. i might have a ancestors from different countries but i myself am an american.

Not enough pride? I have enough pride in my country and I don't need to put a tag like USA infront of my name to prove to myself and others I love my country sooo much.

I'm actually glad that my guild is multi-national. You Robin :P

Yeah well..past expierence gives me a horrible outlook of the Turk race
While I do not know what "past experiances" you have had with the ****'s I will say this, if every race held a grudge against another race for something that happened to a group of people in the past, the world would never more forward. And thus hating said race makes you no better than the ones who made you hate it. Hate begets hate, and hate can only bring about sadness. Now while I am this, I am not condoning what they might have did to anyone ingame or out of game, but if you are going to base something on a race or ethnic group, you will be met with resistance on these forums and possible banned.

Yes i know i know...i agree with you, its just i dont have enough trust w/ the Turkish race for example:
Me:WTS WEP Elixers! 120k ea!
EliteTurk_TR: I buy, 90k each!
Me: I said 120k....
EliteTurk_TR OK, i fux your mom
See....

Many people on sro do. If I get into a convo with someone that isn't from America or Europe and I tell them that I am from America, 70% of the time I get insulted or murdered.

A lot of you guys are getting off the topic. I didn't make this topic to be racist or targeted. It was a question, a simple question. If you didn't understand it once read it again please.

Some of you had a good points. Others just got way off topic and yapped about other things not even close; interpreting posts the wrong way. Maybe "pride" was the wrong word to describe it but it was the only reason that I could think of why people would place it in their names (Yes there were other reasons but this made the most sense).

Wow that sucks dude.. Didn't know it was that bad.

But it's just because people have a general negative image of america and thus americans..

I KNOW there are a lot of friendly and nice and lovely americans out there. (PureOwnage isn't one of them.. Just the name alone says enough )

I don't care where a person is from, just how they act. No prejudice (spelling?)

my opinion on this topic..
the land codes in the name have absolutely nothing to do with pride.

the players with the land codes in their char name mostly come
from countries where they dont get to learn the english language
as good as in other countries. Mostly because the english language
is nothing like their own language. Putting the land code in their
char name, makes them recognizable for the players from the
same country - with the same language.

i played masses of mmorpg and mostly if i would try to talk to
somebody with for example _VN behind his name, i would either
hear "i no speak english" or i would hear nothing at all. By now,
i am used to this and i understand now why they have it in their
character name. So do not be bothered by it.

imagine yourself being born in a country where the english language
is not a thing they teach you intensely in every school.. or you
being 10 years old playing a game and havent had any english at
school at all...
in that case i would put _NL in my name too lol :)

True, pride is a good thing, but it shouldn't excel in arrogance..

(Where are you from?)

And you probably would've been here, maybe german speaking.
