I'm so proud that I begun the chain of "Having girl problems (insert number of also's here)" threads.
But, anyway... just needed a tiny bit of information.
I'm trying to lose body fat percentage here. Not weight. Trying to bulk up (if you guys read my Weightlifting Questions thread), but at the same time, lose body fat, so I don't think my weight should really go down significantly.
Regarding Diet Coke - I drink like, 3 cans of those a day. Stop? Does it do anything bad for me? The Diet Coke used to be Coke, but ever since I started to try to lose body fat, it's been Diet Coke. It says 0 calories, so I've never worried much, but then again, it can't be good for you, can it?
Also, what about foods like Doritos, and other chips? This is what's starting to happen to me.
As an example:
I used to eat, say, 500 calories at breakfast, 1000 at lunch, and 500 at dinner.
Now I'm usually eating 0 for breakfast, a bag of chips in between breakfast and lunch (140 calories, of which 60 or so are fat), maybe 700 at lunch, and 400 - 500 at night. Maybe another bag of chips in between lunch and dinner.
Does this hurt me? Because I'm cutting down on the amount of food I eat at meals, but I'm kind of substituting that with chips.
And one last question - this more on the muscles track.
Look at this diagram:
Would this be effective? Where the guy is, is when your abs are most tense, most strained, so if I just held myself there for as long as I could, would that be atleast as good as doing crunches / sit-ups? Or should I just go for the crunches / sit-ups?

Diet soda is still bad for you but not as bad as coke although its bad
If you want to bulk up just start wight lifting or pushups. This should bulk you up a lot and you should actually gain weight but lose body fat.
And for your last one, its proven that the bigger meals you eat and less snacks you eat, the more weight you lose. Theres a lot of diets that involve fat meals but no snacks.
Edit: foor yur last question, thats a good way to do crunches is to hold it in that position where it burns but its better to do straight up pushups

I hate this crazy assumption by everyone that you can eat less and bulk up, YOU CAN'T!
Exercise (Yes that means *shudder* leaving the computer and the confines of your basement) will help you burn it off and bulk up.
If you want nice muscles you want, you need to do strength training (i.e. lift as much weight as you possibly can 2~3 times). For tone, smaller body less visible muscles, do medium weight many times, and the basics help, push ups and sit ups.
As for the food question, water is best for you, carbonated drinks and chips are not healthy because of their nutritional value, not just calories alone. Watch out for trans fats and saturated fats. Cola/Pepsi/w/e is bad for you because of their water content, you are looking for water to replenish yourself not just any liquid.
Also, do NOT drink Gatorade unless you have done at least a 2+ hour of hard workout (sports) or 3+ hours of medium workout (lifting weights.)

i read one of your other threads, if i recall you're the guy thats either 15, or the guy thats 17, my memory isnt so great on short term.
at those ages, heck, until you hit mid 20's you;re metabolism wont be changeable, you're either skinny, wirey, toned, overweight, or need a dump truck to get out of bed.
your physical appearance wont change much, you can however improve your strength by doing the training. crunches bring out the tone of your abs best, as they are hard bursts, where as a set of regular sit ups will improve their strength.
lower weights, more reps for strength, bigger weights less reps for size.
never do weights by yourself.
liek i said, appaearance wont change much, but heck it's good for you to keep active, when your metabolism does become shiftable it will make a hell of a difference.

And yes, your eating method IS hurting you. Crap in crap out. Try eating some eggs and bacon with a multivitamin for breakfast(no bread though, carbs are too easy to go over with), a couple of cans of tuna per day (you can make a sandwich with these just fine to give you easier ways to spice it up) and some kind of skinless unbreaded chicken or white fish dish with a dark green vegetable for dinner. You want as many calories from protein as you can, and your chips have none, so none of those cals are helping.
As per your situp idea, no. That exercise works only one part of your abs, so if you managed to lose enough weight, you would have uneven ab muscles. It's why you generally don't just hold weights when you lift. If you really need a situp workout try 25 crunches into 25 bicycles into 25 leg raises for 3 reps, and raise the number of each until it's enough for you. That set works all parts of your abs as well as gets a mild cardio going.

Eat three times a day...but when you do...eat WELL.
Biggest one of them all should be your breakfast...try to ease up on dinner, but still make it count.
That + exercise and training is ALL YOU NEED. >_>

um actually instead of having three big hefty meals it would be better for u to eat 6 small meals thru out the day especially now thats its summer cus u hvae time to spare u can burn it off quickly by doing things like cardio which will help u lose weight and yes hit the gym atleast three days a week but try getting a healthy mix of both weight training and cardio,also if u are 17 and not 15 then u can always take craetine it should help u bulk up but if ur only 15 i recommend waiting b4 u take it

eat good on the 3 meals,and you're good to go.
oh , and drink WATER,water is highly underestimated,but it can help unbelievably.
if you just eat like normal,but drink much water,you'll also become fitter.
you can see really easy if you drink enough,if you're urine is dark=not enough.
if it is sort of transparent(like water,but not that transparent)you drink enough,and the fat will go away soon enough:)(im not saying you're fat,i mean...ah well,you know what i mean:P,not that theres a problem with being fat,everyone should live like he wants)

Lol, TBH, I'm not fat at all. I'm very fit, actually, but I just don't have a 6-pack. And that's just what I'm aiming for before the end of summer, is all.
To everyone else, thanks for all your advice. I don't want this to turn into another 3-4 page thread like my weightlifting one, as the questions are pretty simple.
What I've gathered is this:
1. No Diet Coke. Water.
2. No chips. No ice cream. No junk food.
3. Bread? Nope. Not that much, anyways.
4. The way that I've been doing crunches is wrong. It only targets one area of your abs, and that doesn't work out to well. It'll make you look like a freak.
Now, this one, people have said different things:
Would it be best to eat 3 big meals each day, and no snacks? Or 3 smaller meals, and then 3 small snacks?
Thanks again, everyone. Surprised at how many gamers there are that actually know how to keep and stay fit.

(yeah its stupid post but i realy had to post it) i wont coment coz i dont have realy nice stuf to say right now excapte for one i like u so ill give two advices:
1.eat NORMAL=food that u AND your body likes
2.for most ppl especialy young ones bread is like water must have must take in order to stay healthy my sisters best friend once went on f00lish no bread diet she ended up in hospital for one full week and had rehab for next month so unless u realy are not used to eat bread eat it as much as u usualy do
p.s i hope im not too late whit post i just found out that u posted some treads that whole srf is talking about in OTL

If you bulk up on muscle while losing fat, you'll still gain weight because muscle weighs more.
I would honestly just advise to go and do your own research on the net and through talking to personal trainers. You'd find much more accurate and helpful answers than you will from the people here.

if you can go down easy so ..eat meat, fish and rabbit food I mean (vegetable) more and dont eat much potato ,chip,and other stuff you have to meat...And dont take much white bread is plenty whit sugar on it better take dark bread. And move on you more , is ok to only walk some hour per day..
Otherwise do what heheh Blackchocob0 say..( But some say good thing here anyway ....so read it)
BTW : Isent great to make a thread to you self hehehe oh yeah

Drink water, stop Doritos and start eating more healthy food, you will stay fine and better
I only drink water... you will say its the same as coke after some weeks, but its healier
and i never eat chips or Doritos exept when i go to McDonalds( about twice a month )

I lost 6~8kg because I stopped eating all the snacks oO.. I wasn't really fat though.. I stopped Rugby for a season too  So I lost a lot of Muscles strength.. (=weight) But almost all the fat is off now.

1) Don't drink diet coke... benzoate compounds and by-products are possibly carcinogenic.
2) Eat right. Nice balanced diet, 3 meals a day... and if you wanna bulk up... little more protein intake... protein/amino acid drinks are your friend. Just don't OD on them lol.
3) Drink fluids.. preferably WATER.
4) EXERCISE! EVERY DAY! NO WEIGHTS! Normal cardio... like in a sport you enjoy - nothing tooooo strenuous.
4) Consult your GP before you make any dietary adjusments

I disagree fena's like 15 so he should be going through puberty right now. Thats a perfect time to start building muscle in fact, though it varies, the extra testosterone in the body will help muscles develop alot easier than in later years where the flow of testosterone and other hormones slows down.
Eating the 6 small meals per day is great diet for those trying to exercise. The weightlifting thread that was cited by someone else earlier is a great place to look for a work out to build but you should start slow and work yoru way up. Its easier to crash your body when your younger but nows the prime time for weight lifting so dont miss out

ive never had a great appetite, cuz my dads never had one. and i just dont get fat idk why. I dont eat junk food anyways.
so i never had to worry bout losing weight i have to worry bout gaining weight cuz im almost annorexit
i weigh 50kg at 1.78m, <-- bag of bones.
once i tried drinking fizzies and eating chips. chips are inconvenient to eat, and the fizzies taste like shit after awhile.
I give up if im hitting annorexia be it .
same for flabby if u can't help being fat who gives a crap.

I've always been like a pig, I eat and eat and eat but I dont get fat.. I always maintain a slim figure.
I'm just kinda.. squishy. I do my yoga and tai chi daily, and it never changes so, as far as i'm concerned, your body is the way it's meant to be.
The way you look shouldn't matter as long as you're healthy.

i dun think im healthy, im underweight and cant gain weight, i used to think i had worms in me but i dont.
i dont do drugs
dun smoke
dun drink.
idk why im like this i cant feel my ribs
