So, I was sitting here trying to log into Troy as usual, and to no avail I was disconnected every time. I started to get bored of typing in the same things over and over again after about 30 min of doing this. The entire time I was watching gameguard for some reason, and I started to remember things about the old old old silkroad.

I remembered that a while back you could turn off gameguard through the Windows Task Manager, so I figured since I had nothing better to be doing, I would check out the loading of silkroad. Low and behold, gameguard never comes up in the processes tab. I could then remember that there were manual install files for gameguard in the downloads section of the main site. I went to see if they were there, maybe they would be and I could just assume that gameguard ran invisibly. They weren't.

I know there was a problem with gameguard a while back, all the nifty error messages and such. Could it be possible that Joymax actually pulled Gameguard from their games and thus the reason for the uncontrolled botting? I would say it is a plausible reason, wouldn't you?

gameguard is mainly a bluff. well, it hardly does anything if it does. because it dosent:

- detect integral silkroad file changes (this is how botters use hacked .dll's)

- detect non human input (this is more advanced, but even games like runescape have it)

- detect injection in the process memory (yet again, 3rd party clients, and bots do this)

- editing of the sro_client executable (yet again, bots use this)




and no, im not a botter, or a silkroad hacker of any kind, im white-hat, thus know alot about hacking ^^ (if you dont know what white-hat hackng is, google it)

+1 gameguards there so they can make it look like they care...also gameguard is full of rootkits and is hella hard to FULLY remove from your compy....grrrrr gameguard

yeah, its full of rootkits and has strings in alot of the silkroad files. so it is hard to remove. but, then again, gameguard is weak, so it would be simple to disable it.

also, im suprised silkroad servers dont do a client validation and integrity check. games like counter strike, bf2 etc do, the vac etc checks the files, and the server itself checks your game files.

Joymax has said that gameguard has went inactive and will not update anymore
gameguard works but new programs come and still no update 2 deteced theses specific .dll

my gameguard launch, does authentification thing (spelling xD)...

Gameguard actually does a lot towards hacking prevention, but it seems like Silkroad does not have a hacking problem, therefore there isn't Gameguard for silkroad. To see, for games like Gunbound or Maple Story, after GG loads, you should see a shield indicating the rev of the GG at your taskbar. SRO doesn't have it, nor can you see a process called 'Gamemon' when you start SRO.

GG does not run when you start sro. it is a splash screen to give the feeling that it does..

it is like putting alarm stickers on your windows with out having a alarm

Can exchange that fake gg popup screen for anything in pk2

GG is turned off since it has a high fee, and joymax saves big by not
paying nprotect for it.

Well from what ive heard, is that for Isro, the GameGaurd thing runs but it dosent become enabled (so basicaly scanning for injust thing in SRO folder)

The reason for it not being enabled, im not sure.

However, the other silkroads Ksro, bblah blah, they have there game gaurd Enabled, thats why they barely have any bots in the game.

Now i dunno if much, if at all any of this is true, i just heard it from a source, anyhow heard simmilar stories to this?

They don't pay nProtect, they pay iNCA.

I don't think they have gameguard for csro, at least it doesn't load for me. Maybe ksro though.

This game needs to have CVAR checks...
