I'm looking to replace my digital camera (Kodak Z700 4MP, 5X Optical Zoom) with a new one. The reason is because I want one with the new optical image stabilizer feature since I don't use tripods and sometimes an photo can get a little bit blurry and not be at its best.

Let me know what digital camera you use and how you like it.

Here are the most important feature, from most important to least.

Image Stabilizer
Good Optical Zoom (4X or more)
Face Recognition a plus

Here are the candidates so far. These are all 2007 models. Let me know which is you would buy of if there's anything not in the list that I should consider.

Kodak Z1275 $250
http://www.kodak.com/eknec/PageQuerier. ... path=11206
*This camera is 12MP / 5X Zoom and can record video at HD resolution.

Canon SD850 IS $350
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/contr ... elid=15262
*This camera is has 8MP / 4X Zoom but is from a leading brand

Panasonic DMC-TZ3S $300
http://www.panasonic.com/tz3
*This camera has an amazing 10x optical zoom, and it's a compact camera!!!

Price is no concern, but I'm only interested in buying compact digital camera, not those huge SLR camera. I think it's better to have a compact camera that I can take everywhere than an SLR where it's a pain to carry that I will likely leave at home more often and miss photo opportunities. Thanks in advance.

IMHO i would always prefer my DSLR (Digital SLR) ... there is no photography without an SLR  but again its individual preception :P

Anywyz y not SONY Ultra Compact Digital Camera DSCT100, i got this for my sister while i was in Singapre, its nice and compact and i think should cover all ur requirements. Have a look, DSC-T100

Hope this helps :)

well tbh, i've always been a fan of the Canon Ixus series.

my mom, brother and me have one and they just work like a charm and
are very compact. i dont know much about the cams you posted, but maybe
the ixus series is worth looking at too :)

Out of those 3, go with the Canon.

Thanks for all the comments/recommendation/feedbacks. Unfortunately, the Canon SD900 has only 3X Optical zoom and no optical image stabilizer, so I don't think it's worth the upgrade from the digital camera I have now.

I think I should just get the Panasonic given it's huge 10x optical zoom and it's small compact size.

the panasonic is actually pretty good.

my friend has something similar to it... not sure if it's the same model but it's got an insane zoom for a compact sized cam.

colours look pretty good on it too. canons are pretty reliable, but as you said, the zoom isn't quite up to your expectations.

can't really speak from experience regarding the kodak, but my friend had an old kodak and hated it. and from reviews they've never had anything that was really worth checking out anyway. so no vote for them

I got my Canon SD850 (aka IXUS 950 in Europe) on Friday and I love the clarity of the LCD. The size was smaller than what I had wanted/expected, but overall it's a quality camera. I will probably post some pictures with it later.
