Post subject: SP Farming on a Pure INT. Posted: Sun Jul 15, 2007 8:02 pm |

Alright, I'm making a pure INT nuker. 1st character, so 0 funding.
I've been reading around here for a bit, and realized I had to SP farm a decent amount because I'm doing 3 trees. Whee
I've seen and read most of the guides on a bunch of forums and they all say the same thing. Get SoX bow, and 1hit them. 2 problems here for me.
1. I have no funding, and therefor cannot shell out the 50m+ for one of these bows.
2. I am pure INT, so even if I had a "ub3r l33t" bow, I still couldn't 1 hit.
3 (optional) Imbue is very annoying to recast and it guzzles pots.
So, at the moment, I am:
Level 15, with a level 13 bow, (nothing special on it).
I have ~850 sp that I've farmed from lvls 1-15.
I have 7 mastery in fire and in Pacheon.
So I just went to den and realized this problem. Time to start searching the forums again
Here is what I've found out:
Most Nukers just wait until level 30 to get their nukes, then farm around there.
Now here are my questions (I'm a major noob )
1. Is 850 SP enough to get me to level 30?
2. What gap do I need (between mastery and level) to still gain SP efficiently from 15-30?
3. Do I keep my bow or go to spear like I had planned?
4. Are there any "ub3r l33t" places to train+farm at the same time between 15-30? (Also what difference to train efficiently at these places, see question 2)
5. Since this is my first character and I know nothing, will I be able to train efficiently by just following the quest routine?
6. Once I get my nukes, where do I farm? Also, will I know where it is? If not, where is it?
7. Am I gonna need some "ub3r l33t" SoX +5-8 weapon in order for me to farm efficiently? If so, will I be able to afford one with an unfunded character?
8. If I don't have enough SP at the moment, and I need to farm more, how much more? And is this still at the den?
Thanks in advance guys.
(Sorry I put this in two places, wasn't sure where it should be.)

Holy crap. Questions that haven't been asked 100 times before. I'm so shocked, I'm gonna answer.
1. Just level lightning and bow for now. Skip fire until you're ready to farm. The dmg difference is so small under 30 that it won't much matter, and you can 0 gap till nukes no problem.
2. Stay 0. Farm when you have nukes.
3. Keep bow till nukes. saves you a LOT of running time.
4. Chakji, horses, and hyongcheong are pretty good, but tend to be bot infested. But then again, what isn't?
5. Yes.
6. Once you have nukes, find the highest mob you can one hit (nuke only). This holds up pretty much all game. Yes, you can go to mobs a little higher and nuke/shout if the spawn rate is better, but generally one hitting with fire/light nukes gives you about a 20m circular range, and keeps people from ksing you.
7. No. You might not be getting 2k sp/hour without one, but farming is 99% perseverance, 1% gear. You can farm with a pure white weapon if you really wanted to, but you'd be on almost blue mobs. The only thing uber gear allows you do to is get more sp per kill from higher mobs (say 600 spxp/kill rather than 400). But the more you farm green mobs the more money you save (as you should never be using hp pots except for mobs that spawn near to you and giants).
EG. My gear holds out for about 7 hours of farming before something breaks. That means if I throw enough money down for a 7 hour grind, I get 7 hours worth of drops to sell every time I go back to town. Granted I'm higher so I don't fill up with NPCable gear as quick, but still, the point stands. NPC or stall everything, and you will pretty quickly be able to get the better gear. Also, at lower levels you'll be able to stock up on elements like wind 2 and 4 and earth 6 which can sell for about 3k each dep on server. Money in the bank for you ;p
8. Use one of the character planners to figure out how much SP you'll need at 80. It'll probably be over 300k. So farm as much as you physically can when you hit 9 gap. If you don't hit it, you can farm mujigis, penons, and caves until you do.

More questions
Won't leveling up the bow be pointless?
If I'm going spear in the end.... aren't all those extra points in Bow going to waste? Plus, doesn't that mean more farming?
Also, if I level bow, won't I have not enough points to level spear?
With the calculations, it is 4,341 points for level 30 bow and all the skills needed in it. Wouldn't it be easier to just drop bow, put them in spear, and do a tad bit more running so I don't have to farm too much?
Plus, if I'm not going to be farming anything major until level 30, what would it matter for the little extra distance? And wouldn't the fact that I didn't waste points into bow mean that those points I have earned now would actually be beneficial to me in the end game,?

More questions Won't leveling up the bow be pointless? If I'm going spear in the end.... aren't all those extra points in Bow going to waste? Plus, doesn't that mean more farming? well using bow makes you lvl faster from 0-30 but it will cost you some gold in the end. Skills can be de-lvl'ed again and at lvl 70+ when you need the mastery space the few gold that you have to put in to take those lvl's away is nothing. Same goes for the few sp you have to make. 4k sp on lvl 70+ is about 4 skill lvl's it comes and goes like nothing. Quote: Also, if I level bow, won't I have not enough points to level spear? the not running saves a lot of time.. don't underestimate it. When you are lvl 30 you'll have range with your nukes too. So you won't even need any skills from spear at first. Then at lvl 30 you'll farm for you nukes and if you got sp left for some spear skills (wich won't be much sp since you are higher lvl) Quote: Plus, if I'm not going to be farming anything major until level 30, what would it matter for the little extra distance? well awnsered this already.. but skills can be de-lvl'ed.
This all is based on speed i've just used bow untill lvl 24 and then switched to spear because i farmed at lvl 16 a lot. So i had the sp, but if you don't wanna farm a lot and just lvl quick then the bow untill 30 is the way to go. The money and sp investment might seem a lot now, but near the cap it will be nothing.
ps got a feeling this isn't your first mmorpg

Then should I just farm all the SP I need until level 30 now (7,868), at 16, and put it as I go along, at a 0 gap?
If so, is this still at the den?
And with what weapon?

farming at lvl below lvl 16 should always be done with a bow. It's the fastest way to do it. No mather what build you are.
The fastest way to farm sp is at lvl 16 at the den. The only thing is that it is really boring. But about 25-30k of sp (without gt) is doable. I would go 9gap at 16 for sure. Even if you don't plan to do the clasic de-lvl'ing strategy it's a great moment to farm with a 9gap. And if you do 9 gap at lvl 16 you have more then your 7,8k sp that you need.

BTW my turn to ask a question i was farmign hardecore at bandits and using premium+skillgt bla bla, back to my point i was doing the classic lvl up to 17 delvel back to 16 at 5% but its a hassle if you dont have any resser friends so iv gone up to lvl 18 now xD should i delevel back down to 16? ive heard that up to 19 the sp rate drops alot? anyone confirm this? thanks!!

Yes, sp rate does, and after lvl 20 it becomes so small it's not worth it.
Well, i never liked, and never agreed on farming at lvl 16, for 2 simple reasons:
1.it's a clichee. Everybody does it so, even with the insane spawn rate of bandits archers there, you'd be fghting a KS beyond one's endurance.
2. You have to delevel a lot...Yes you get like 400 SP an hour(so i heard), but let us not forget that every 1.6k you need more time to delevel. So here's what i did :
1. Farm like 3-4k at lvl 16(for reaching lvl 32, nukes n other things).
2. After you quit farming, you can either use the bow skills till lvl 30, or use spear skills(which would save some SP but mean some slower lvling).
3. Lvl 30 : get nukes, start lvling, stop lvling your masteries from 33 forward. When you hit 42 you shall have 9 gap.And of course, because lvling with 8 gap at 41 is kinda painfull, you can try to lvl the masteries up, and then delevel them with cursed hearts(will cost some money).
4.At lvl 42, buy a sos spear, or a +5, if you cant afford it, and head to the dead ravine, which has a decent spawn rate, or to those flying bugs(maongs), which die as fast and give some better SP, but they're a pain in the ass to click on, and they're full of bots.
That's what i did, and SP was pretty nice. Maybe not as nice as bandit den, but let us not forget i didnt have to delevel ^_^.

Just lvl with a 5 gap and if you dont have enough SP play one lvl with 6 gap and you will be ok.
