Well guys, I don't know if anybody who's got edited PK2 file can connect to the game or not after the inspection or not, but I'm sure for those who couldn't and reinstalled a clean copy, you're feeling weird with your edited prettiness gone.

I'm a little interested in if there is anybody who has never done ANY PK2 editing, not because you can't figure out how, but those who are plain "not interested" in these stuff. Those who you have edited before, feel free to leave ur comments as to why you do pk2 editing as well.

Now below are my rants so skip them if you wish :P But I'll find out who skipped it and come and whip you.

Well here goes. You see, the fact is, girls likes wearing pretty stuff, and I grind for them. (Euhm no I don't grind on the bed for pretty cloths :P , now you may read on)

I love Silkroad's garments. Now, some guys on SRO says the armor is the best looking thing, but I disagree, garments are the BEST. Its also the best looking outfit in all the MMOs I played. Anybody who argues me on this might get a wall of text PM explaining why garments look better than armor so don't even try :P

In fact I have a close RL friend couple who used to play SRO, and they actually had seperate garment/armor sets for every degree. Everytime the girl comes on, she'd PM me about how EWWWW the armors her BF put on their char, then put on her garment sets. She'd often tell me how much she wants to NPC the armor set, but is afraid her bf will get mad at her. I said I would fully support her if she decides to NPC her bf's crappy looking set. Anyway. Whats all this gotta do with PK2.

Like I said, I grind so I can wear pretty garments. Whats the point of grinding if I didn't have pretty cloths to wear when I level? Whats the point of playing if I can just PK2 edit my garments to make them look whatever degree I wanted it to look like? Its just SO rewarding when I grind without sleepig for a day and I level and wear the new degree chest piece. So I've never done PK2 editing, and never will. :D Be happy with what you have. Earn it if you want something new.

If you're just playing the games for looks, I suggest you find a different game.

Yeah, it is interesting and all but never really was so into it to want to try it. and jeez what is all that. Gonna whip people, no grinding for nice clothes in bed, etc. Everyone should go buy torn jeans and live in a cage haha.

Yeah little stalker, your rant is true. I feel more rewarded when I can complete that next degree on my own rather then be fighting tomb stone ghosts with it looking like I have 7D garms on. Get your ass back to Pacific.

That just made me laugh... <3

Anyway, OT. No, i never Pk2 edited, i never wanted to. Never will, and dont see the point in it. I mean, whats the point of using a 4th Degree stuff, and Pk2ing it to look like 9th Degree stuff, so you can "check what you will look like" in like so many more lvls? O.o LOL!

Besides, better to be safe than sorry. I dont really like going into Code and editing little strands, you know there will always be a person out there who Accidentley changes the wrong 1 into a 0 lol..

You know the saying, "paint a bag of potatoes red, and its still a bag of potatoes?" (or words to that extent)... well yeah, Give urself a 9D makeover, and your still a 4D player. Who knows, maybe there is the unfortunate incident when you aint thinking clearly and you see your char in a pimped out 8D, think you are, go and PK someone who is really 8D and get your little 4D ass Whiped! XD

Yeah, so big No No on Pk2 editing. Having a completely 100% never altered client. Is FTW

Never tried to edit pk2 editing and never will. Simply because I'm not interested in it, like you already said greecemilly, you can grind (NOT on the bed) for clothes anyways. I do like to see what other people can create, like Cruor, but I never really wanted to try myself anyways.

Though, unlike you I just totally HATE garments, I died tons of times in DR with the 9 gap, my whole guild told me to wear garments but I just can't stand them.

I have before a long time ago just because it was the thing to do. But I doubt you get banned since they only updated the client.exe file, not the whole folder.

Never got interested. I also prefer grinding to what I want, and I've got my sexy Degree 7 Protector on my female character. I'm very happy with it, why would I want something else? ^^

I've never touched the PK2 because:
1) Crouror (sp?) never released a step-by-step on how he did his visuals and stuff (That I know of...never bothered searching) and,
2) I'm really more interested in changing the HUD/Interface more then anything...Customizable HUDs would be so cool...

Suggestions to fix iSRO:
-Gold wipe
-Daily Bot bans
-Make SoX items acquirable only with Honor Points

Not interested. And if I see a post anywhere about it, I skip it. :\ Except now. Huh I'm such a hypocrite. Meep.

I kinda view it the same as botting. If you can't or won't work your ass off for whatever reason to get that shiney stuff, then you don't deserve it anyhow. Buuut that's just my opinion. I'll go stuff my nose back in a book and hope I miss all the flames that might be thrown my way.

Not interested, same reason as most of the comments.

I'd Rather just level up and earn my 8th degree garments, 8th degree Blade and 8th degree Shield. Couldn't see a point in playing if I could just switch to final degree stuff right away.

I also couldn't stand being like Level 3x with 8th degree P2K edited stuff and not being able to completely own anything in my path.

Also, nobody else would even see what I edit....

Totally +1...

Your just running even more from the real game, that's kind of putting a unicorn in the stable just because it's pretty, you will ride a unicorn but you'll fall down the same way you did in the horse >.>, all the same, just putting a mask xD

I've pk2 edited a few times.. didn't like the look of it and it confused me horribly when I'd see someone taking a lot of damage from mangyangs in 8d garments. >.>

I agree with you 100% though Milly, garms are the best looking bit of equipment in the game, although the hats are really ugly.

*Bows to Milly*

Ah, now I am going to write up a long history on how this all came to be for me so grab some popcorn and have a seat, boys and girls.

It all started a long long time ago, in Artist's Corner. It was August of 2006. Back then I was still a lurker. I saw an interesting topic, "Silkroad Reskins" was its name and Moogie was its author. I had a look inside, intrigued by what it could possibly be. I read through it a bit. Seems Moogie was attempting to reskin a wolf using a PK2 extractor. There was also much talk about potential "nude patches" and lulz ensued. Anyway, nothing ever came of it. It had gotten my interest however.

A couple months later, another topic popped up, this time in General Discussion. Someone named c0kane thought they had found a way to remove the abuse filter. Again, I was interested. I had gotten tired of having stupid words like "punk" censored. How was one to tell people they liked to listen to Daft Punk?

Then in late January there was the topic that finally pushed me to give it a try. It was Poseidon and Xanovaria of Greece, showing off PK2 edited 9D equipment. That day I decided to give it a try and I had it figured out by the end of the evening. I never did go and search for tutorials after all. Everything I did I figured out on my own, using my past experience from hex editing Halo PC.

Two days after that post I posted a screenshot of a level 3 character with 9D equipment as a joke in a thread, which of course had a couple people asking questions. Then, in a thread called "razorback & xiaoyu tripin' LOL" I posted my first screenshot of a totally unique edit. The thread was showing a video composed completely of a couple of girls using the "hi" emote repeatedly so naturally I showed my character, a male, using the same animation. No one recognized it as a PK2 edit but it got a couple of laughs. The original picture was lost but I made another one to put in the screenshots thread.

After that I started to explore the PK2 files a bit more and a couple of days later I came up with my "+11 glow" which was the first video I posted. At that time I still had my equipment edited into 9D stuff. What gave me the idea to change the colors of the glow was all of the arguing at the time over whether +9 really was the last glow.

I started to edit textures a bit and got more familiar with the basic process of PK2 editing. Eleven days after my "+11 glow" edit I had come up with a makeshift "nude patch", remembering that it had been a subject of interest way back when with the "Silkroad Reskins" topic and deciding it would be a good challenge.

Five days after that I created the tutorial on making kSRO display in English. Looking back, I can't believe how fast all of that happened. I had planned to play kSRO a bit and I saw plenty of people asking if such a thing as translating it was possible so I figured I'd have a look to see if it was a problem that could be solved. Afterwards, I never ended up playing kSRO anyway. By that time I had stopped playing any versions of SRO seriously.

I started to share my knowledge for a few days. About a week later I posted the "Babe Summon Scroll", which I had made up while playing around with switching BSR references. I wasn't really trying to solve any problems, but it was fun and it was also something new.

Four days later I found the GM armor and had some fun, showing off its stats as well. I was beginning to see the potential of PK2 editing to show things that we didn't have access to yet.

A week later I had come up with my new nukes, which remain my most popular edit ever. By then, my edits were really of the "flavor of the file" variety. I would find an interesting file, figure out how to manipulate it, then move on to another file after I had it figured out.

Two weeks or so later I decided that it annoyed me that you couldn't see who had hats when they were using capes. Seemed pretty pointless to me so I figured out how to change it and was soon in rice-hat PvP heaven. Messing around more, I started to make stuff like the "Invisible Potion" edit which left my character invisible except for his weapons. Useless, but still fun to watch. I showed off some character reskinning finally, Photoshopping my ugly mug on to the texture for my character. I got creeped out after a while though, seeing my face on every single person who chose to use my character. After that I started to focus more on showing new stuff from kSRO like the Behemoth, Lizard, Fluffy (I don't know his name but he's a huge fluffy pet), and the genie.

April brought the [GM] tag exploit. I wasn't the first to do it, but after seeing it posted I immediately worked on figuring it out and the same day was standing at south gate Jangan with a [GM] tag and my name in gold messing around with people. Thankfully, I'm not a malicious person so I never took advantage of anyone, but was happy to see Joymax patch the exploit up, preventing any scammers from getting their hands on it.

I quit SRO for a bit, losing interest in it because of the huge amount of bots ruining the game. I couldn't leave for long though, looking at all of the new PK2 edits people made while I had quit gave me the urge to try to find something completely new. So I worked here and there on changing the color of Seal glows, that having been one of my first objectives with PK2 editing and remaining unconquered up until now. It actually didn't take long for me to figure it out, having tried it on talismans first as they were much smaller files. That day I posted my "Seal of Cruor", which although it's been dwarfed by all of my other edits is still my proudest achievement.

So you see, PK2 editing really isn't about wearing 8D equipment when you are 4D. It's about solving problems you see with the game, killing boredom, and challenging yourself to come up with new edits.

Amen to that...

Some people are not made for this kind of games... i like it, but you need to spend a LOT of time in it, and, to be honest, it's not the kind of thing i like to do (lvl 33 highest here). However, the artwork of this game and all those visual aspects are really cool. I started to look in PK2 editing because i wanted to see the whole thing but didn't have the time nor the patience/interest to do it.

I don't like SRO very much, the only reason i'm still here is the community, i don't care about reaching a high level, i just like to chat with the people i encounter in game or in forums. Soon, we will start playing in an SRF guild made for Euro, i wanted to be in there to play with some of the people i like from here, but my purpose is not to play for the char but to play with them...

However, when there's not many people to play around with, you must find a way to entertain yourself. Jobbing is not a possibility for me due to my level, and i have explored pretty much everything i could, so, for the sake of beating the boredom, i PK2 edit some stuff every now an then. Simple stuff: gear, mobs, items, etc... (because if i'll get bored of grinding, at least i'd like to wear good-looking clothes).

I think PK2 edit is a good choice for the non-hardcore gamers who want to see the visuals that the game has to offer, we don't bother anyone doing it because is for our personal enjoyment, unless some use it to guess people's levels and stuff... but, in my case, i don't care about that, and i'm sure there are other people who don't do it either.
