Hello everyone!

I noticed there were alot of posts on ppl asking what they should play in the esro and now im joining the party ^^.I searched around and found info bit by bit, but i'm sure that by now, ppl have more experience in esro.Ok, so i keep looking on their skills over and over and i just cant decide!I know i could get both, but id prefer to require the least sp, as well as keeping my weapon expenses as low as possible at this time.So which class should i pick and why?

Depends on how you'd prefer to play. If you really only want to tank you shoud choose Sword/Shield as the Shield saves you from a lot of damage, making this build ideal to tank even a couple of monsters. However, the damage output is quite low.

Axe does some more damage and is IMO the cooler weapon but you'll definitely get some more damage since there's no shield protecting you.

I can't give you an advise since I don't know what you'd prefer. Being a tank but not being able to deal damage or being able to deal some damage (not as much as Wizard or Two-handed Sword, though) but not that good as a tank? It's your choice. I guess Axes would be cheaper since you wouldn't need to buy a Shield. I can't say whether Axe or Sword/Shield needs less SP but I think both need relatively little so you can go through the game without farming. I don't know if you'll need a gap anyway.

Thanks for your reply :D .My true play role would be to do good dmg, but take a couple of hits as well which is why i was looking at the dual axes since its balancing those out.

Yet, at the same time, i was also willing to overlook the Sword and Shields weak damage output assuming that ill take out my enemies before they take me out.So i guess you could say this is more or less of a, "what class should i chose for pvp and pve" kinda thread.

I played around with my brothers's S/S char using Shield bash, and its currently one of the most fun/(for enemies)annoying skills I've played around with, and its saved my party members several times.

On higher lvls they have several push backs and 'dulling' effects, causing them to survive even longer by crippling their enemies fighting abilities.

But i look @ the dual axe users abnormal effect resist passive, hoping it will protect me from the future invasion of warlocks :D On top of that, they'll be able to to attack faster after gaining more experience.

I see both as awesome underplayed potential weapons that can probably take out any class when played right, but with that in mind, which one of the two will be able to do this to the greater effect?

looks like you like takin a lot of hits and bein able to survive to kill.

thats definitely a sword/shield sub cleric build which is what i have.

theres a holy word skill in the cleric tree that does the same as what the axe passive you menioned does, and it stays on even if you switch weapons.

just buff yourself up before pvp using "holy word" under cleric tree, then switch back to sword and its basically like having the axe passive.

theres a body blessing skill under cleric also, raises mag and phy defense by over 150 using only the first book at lvl 24, that stays on if you switch back to sword.

that plus iron skin that you learn at lvl 40, you can tank like 5 strength characters, ive done it the defense is so sick and cuts down the damage you take by a ton. a pure str glaive was doin about 1.8k damage per hit (48+4 glaive), and after my buffs he only did 400, and for some reason did a 66 crit, yes 66, not 666. lol.

That does sound awesome lol. Ty for your post :D Btw, do you think this build will hold up more effectively than the dual axe users in mass pvp?

I just re-looked over the skills and noticed they had some sort of...what seems to be a mass stun?

Also stacking holy word with the axe passive would give awesome resistance come to think of that. But a shield makes survival a breeze depending on your luck(which increases after a couple lvls)Im still laughing at the part where you said you were hit for 66 on a crit :D

I'm basically just slapping my thoughts into a post and it gives a slight idea of how difficult selecting a class can be for me xD not just in silkroad, but in nearly every mmo i've played to date.

I guess it comes down to what i have the most fun with(i think both classes are awesome)which i suppose cant be helped no matter how hard i try.

Any more convincing posts?I'm absolutely enjoying the feedback I've gotten so far :D

Is that true, the Body Blessing buff from cleric tree will stay even though you switch back to sword? Can I get confirmation.

I said go Dual axe

Sure, you may get blocks and knockbacks with your shield. But those knockbacks are a pain in the neck for for everybody else. I also usually pull aggro from S/S users (well... I pull aggro from all warriors, need to stop using desperate dagger :banghead: )

If you must choose, I say- Take both.

+1!

Personally, I'm a Dual Axe user. Lvl 25 yet, but I think it's awesome now and it'll be much better later on. D. Axe's about quick attacks, combos and loads of stun. If I stun a mob I can kill ones 2 levels higher than me even without being hit. However, as a full str in heavy armor you can bear some hits.
I think this kinda character is good as a tanker/puller and it won't knockdown the mobs, so ideal with damage dealers.

BTW I've never tried s/s really so I can tell you anything bout that. However, I haven't seen so many s/s warriors yet.

Hmm there are so many people agreeing and disagreeing for the fact that the cleric buff will gone once you unequip cleric rod. So which one should trust?

Look at the last post, here's one .. http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=53144

Personally, I use both 1h + Shield and Dual Axe.

I use the 1H and Shield for when I want to tank for other members in the party, and the Dual Axe for solo grinding and flat-out offense if there's another tanker in the party.

thats talking about the str and int buffs, those disappear because in the skill description it specifically says u need to have the cleric within 100meters.

holy word stays, and so does the mag and phys defense buff that lasts for 45 seconds.

and yes, 66 crit wasnt a lie [but only with those buffs on, they only last 1 minute], and the defense passive, block rate passive, and critical parry passive only get bigger in the 1handed sword/shield branch...so ur gonna have to gut it out for like 50 lvls before u can tell that your builds defenses are twice as good as your warrior counterparts.

my crossbow guildmate laughed at how he was doin like 10k crits on ppl and i was only doin like 1k damage, then i told him o yea well let me see how much i hit you with and i killed him in 2 skills.

then i told him okay lemme buff and see how much u hit me for, he hit me for 80 damage constantly lol. And 1 minute of insane defense is enough to take out any euro char.

if you wanna kill chinese pure str chars like a glaive, then dont choose sword/shield becasee the attack is only good enough to kill full int chinese, hybrid int chinese, and all europe chars.

i repeat, full str chinese ..unless u get like 5 crits, they wont die cuz of the autopot. axe and 2h sword do better with those.
