- Would you consider a low level(~27-28) cleric, in a group taken along to Golems, while that cleric is healing the group powerleveling?(In case you don't know, Golems are lvl 38-39)

- Would you consider a low level rogue, in a group taken along golems, while that rogue is also helping kill monsters powerleveling?

- Would you consider any class, putting a trace on a high level chinese, and then go afk while that chinese character is gaining XP for him powerleveling?

Well, what's your opinion?

Some could argue that the role of a cleric is to just heal, and not attack. Then really it is just grinding how a normal cleric in most mmo's do, by healing.

IMO the 1st scenario is ok, provided that the cleric is actually achieving his worth. Thats the say he isnt healing a measly 1 hp and it actually contributing to the party.

For the second scenario, if the rouge is contributing to the party and earning ts worth in damage, then i see no problem with it.

Though for the 3rd, simply is power lvling, no doubt about it.

The question isnt if its cheating,

it's if you consider grinding blindly from lvl 20-50 to be "fun".

If you answered "No" then you might need some lvl 80 lovin.

Um most of the people. Are using their level 80 chars to plvl their own euro chars. How they got to level 80 aside, they did get there, so should they not be allowed to use that to their advantage (ie plvl a euro char to 60+ in a few weeks)

if its a mob 10 lvl or more higher than you and your "helping kill" that's still plvling , because basically you arent doing nothin to help. maybe if u are cleric or force char and healing/buffing that is the only helping I would consider. Other wise going out with high lvls to kill mob way higher level than you that you would no way be able to kill on your own or with a party same lvl as you, that is powerlvling. also youforgot 'sitting on horse tracing highlvl"

Powerleveling is most frequently used in multiplayer games, where it usually refers to a player that is of much greater power assisting a player of much lower power in defeating enemies that are far too powerful for the low level player, but are easily and quickly killed by the more powerful player. Defeating high level challenges rewards the lower level player with experience points more rapidly than normal. In general this is considered a form of cheating, or manipulation of the game system for unintended results.

I think I would draw the line on the purpose of it. If such system were to setup so that the lower level would gain more exp than the norm, but the intention was not set upon the beneficiary of the lower level, it would not be considered power leveling.

Powerleveling is the hot topic at the moment :)

I can use the same post for 3 threads :D

Sylhana wrote:
I think theres a very subtle but distinctive point to be made here. There are players that play by a moralistic principle, and there are players that play by the rules. Both can be considered legit, and powerleveling differentiates them. Powerleveling is not against the rules, but it is against the principle of the game (which is to play). It isnt an exploitation of a bug per se, but a perversion of gameplay.

Its not what players do against the rules that angers other players. Cause JM would deal with that (by banning etc). Its the basic principle and the spirit of the game that upsets other players. It wont be much of a game if players dont play it like it should be played :(.

They would all be considered powerleveling, in my opinion, because the powerleveled character is getting experience from monsters they would not be able to kill themselves.

I would also like to add what I said on the subject from a previous thread:

Powerleveling is nothing more than just people taking advantage of the structure of the party system, in the same say that 1-star poppers were taking advantage of the jobbing system. If Joymax really thinks that it's a problem, then they will deal with it.

If the cleric actually manages to keep the party at golemns alive, which is nearly impossible with level 27 mastery, then its not powerleveling imo.
Besides, clerics and bards get the easy levels in any cooperative play MMO.

to end this it was Joymax choice to make the party system and there is no real way to abuse it g oafk if you want get p-lvled by ur lv 80 but it is still legit the only un-legit way of power lvling is if you pay a company real money to get on your account and lvl your char but manual training...

Usually when you party, its to try to kill mobs a higher than ur lvl,or then people whould just solo the mob if he/she could kill it.
