Sureproof way to succeed at alchemy:

Throw a LOT of money into it. Today I turned 87 lucky powders, 87 elixirs, a buttload of money, 1 int tab, 1 crit tab, and 10 BR tabs into a shield. Started with a 72+0 br 12, ended up with a 72+5 br 20 crit 100% int 4 shield. Total cost: about 20 million.

I've had enough of these where I don't touch alchemy unless I have at least 20-30 mil to throw at it. It's like gambling: Throw enough money in to make it interesting and walk away when you're on top. That shield isn't going to get a dura/defense/reinforce increase by me, simply because it's not worth it to risk failing.

Many ppl will hate me for this

How to rondo d4 stuff and get with 80-90% probablity wind/water4?

How to do perfect blues and lose only a few stones?

If you do alchemy, its sure you experienced, that there are good times and bad times. This was the first thing that gave me some toughts.
Coz this includes, that alchemy is turnbased... no... not exactly, its more like
tide and ebb and wawes on a shore:)

So i begun to experiment on my d4 drops... and finaly, i get the right timespan.
Here it goes:
First, slowly rondo cheap stuff, like glowes, and such(low amount of element given) until you get your first wind4...
(The most important thing here is a lagfree environment.)
Next thing is, you watch the glowing whatever in your alchemy box as you rondo something.
After or on the moment the last light wanishes, you click on fuse again(so you have to be quick, coz the next item must be in the box before the light wanishes).
Gl with that method. ;)

"Do not rush, approach quietly, slowly"

Perfect blues:
Dont just spam stones! If not succesfull, stop, or after half a minute try again... if no success, stop for that hour/day, it depends.

Now, this is a bit more difficult to do. Coz you have to wait for the tide.
(tide = the average chance to succesfully fuse a stone) and, if you are lucky, you can catch a good wawe(the max result of a succesfull fusing).
So, here is my method:
you make lots of cheap stones, like d4 dodge stones:)
(only lvl3 elements needed)
or anything, what cheap is, immunity stones for example, and then, you start to fuse.
If the first two stone fuses, you have tide, if not, you have ebb, if there is only 1 succes, you are betveen tide and ebb.
So... use expensive stones only if you have 2 sucess in a row!
The next important thing is to ride a good wawe:)
(yeah, i like surfing)
Use cheap stones 'till you see the results are going up. As you reach almost 100% blues you start to use your expensive stones, like str/int/others an voila! a 100% blue will appear:)
If you catch a rly good wawe and you have a good wawe going up, just wait few seconds before every fusing, you will see the results are good:), even an assimilation will give you positive results(stats going up instead of going to 0%)

Thats it.
Excsajom bids you farewell and wishes you good luck.
:)

(You see NS? This how you make good posts ..I..)

Well you are on to something friend =) You can find times where silkroad's RNG is more favorable. Matter of fact I have yet to play a MMORPG where the RNG does not has its moments of favoritism. It does not mean you can predict this, but you can catch on when your percent of success is higher. Kind of like counting cards for blackjack.

When it comes to SRF its really best not to post opinions on item drop, mob spawn, sos drop, alchemy percentages. Most people here still believe the RNG is completely random. And I can guarantee you none of them code =)

I can do lots of Python, C++, and some Javascript. as far as randomness goes, it's only joymax's knowledge. the only way for us to know is if we were able to get into the server files, which is MD5 hash and can't be backwards engineered.

Just do it.

And none of them did any experiment nor notes of experiment nor analysed the results of an experiment nor studied math or physics....

Just two word: enclosed oscillation.
This is how it works imho.

the other pic is:

Enveloping amplitude = success rate
Expletive amplitude = effect of a stone
But this might not be precise.
Attribute stones do not work on the same principle. Only alchemic stones and plussing does this.

I agree that patience is the key to success. +5 first day, +7ed on second day, +8 on 3rd day, greed overruled me and i tried to +9 right away as i got +8, and i went down to +0 : )
Ofcourse there is a very small chance of getting +9 but there is also a very small chance of getting +8 :P
So i do see what you mean when you say patience is important in alchemy, nice thread +1

Well, im going to give it a try. as soon as i can clear inventory of one of my chars. I hope it will work, and ill be one of a few to know it :)
My % of success at getting wind 4 really suks lately, I started simply buying it for 2k each.

The reason so many people are negative i think is because of poetry in the language of first post. That's how public domain works nowadays. Ive noticed it soo many times doing public presentations in front of an audience.

People get easily impressed with "professional" data, like tables, formulas, diagramas, etc, even if those dont really mean anything.
After that, you can through anything at them, and even explain the subject with a simple real life example or a joke. The audience thinks like "ummm this presentation is really too smart for me, but the guy is kind enough to explain it in common language".

But when they hear real life examples or jokes at first, or poetic language, they tend to stop listening.

Apad faszat. Bocs.

Nothing wrong with your intentions, but you can't make sure what a random result will be like. It's like telling lottery numbers. After all it all comes down to luck.

Come to Eldorado and speak with my guildmates. If you believe it cant be done, just ask them.
Seek out 7Shinobi or pm/msg Excsajom.

Everyone's got their own routine, theory or 'lucky spot.' Glad you found what works best for you!

Alchemy is a game of chance. Best way to approach it is to not play unless you can accept either outcome. Or afford it. :)

Nothing is random in the digital world. Everything is pseudorandom. Even the randomness needs to be seeded with a non random constant. Usually randomness is seeded by the CPU clock, so it does make sense that it would have a connection with time.

Does anyone know how exactly the random is calculated?

exactly.

And a random number generator will work on the clients side so it directly depends on your CPU! So the theory that alchemy works on some ppl better then other COULD have some truth in it.

With a very complex alghoritm designed to take an always changing variable (like time, temperature) and then use complex functions to create a number in the interval the user wants. But it can only give the impression of being random.

for example if you make a program htat flips 10 coins and run it on a fast CPU it will almost never give you 5 heads and 5 tails because the algorithm is executed faster then the variable is changing.

You can see if you have a good or bad time.
Cheap stones on some junk equip, or a plain sun/som accessory.
This is how i do all weapon pimping.

Not chance.
I recorded stone fusing in a two day period with 3hour pauses.
The succes rate does rise and fall.
But this is imho, dont believe at al. I just told you how i see this.
Thats all.

total BS

if you alchemy/pimp up your gears @ 8D, be prepared to waste like 50M the least. Now thats not a myth ^^

If you use alchemy wisely ( using your brains instead of instincts) youll get rich by the millions^^.

lol alchemy is all about lucky theres not secret to it.

either you succeed or your screwed.

some of my friends go to some place in hotan and say its a lucky place lol Bs just cuz they have +5 sets they think that place gives them luck.

after trying tons of times they think its a lucky place.
