I can 1-hit mobs 6 lvls higher than me atm, but yeah, with life control on, it is easy to be 1-hit as well. Thats why I sometimes let my dog start to tank so i get an extra hit on the champs.

i always not use life control cuz if i do i 1 hit die ,so i am like this
ice nuke -> fire nuke -> ice ,etc if mobs around me i use earth and the other cold ,if a gaint or pt mob near i run with the lightning then get killed in the end should i get bard or cleric or warrior or rogue as my sub? ,i am a solo player at least most of the time

I use bard as a sub for the march and noise.
But if I cant 1-2 hit it, I dont attack it normally.
