I'm not sure if this is common knowledge but it was news to me. The XP penalty for killing mobs more than 11 levels higher than you is based on your highest mastery level, not your character level.

Tested with level 49 char with level 48 mastery (one gap). I received more XP from Yetis (level 59) than from Devil Yetis (level 60). Yetis have 11 gap from mastery and Devil Yetis have 11 gap from character level.

Most people looking for max XP probably have a 0 gap anyway so it doesn't matter.

You must take into account that Devil Yeties are of higher level thus give more "base" exp before the penatly is calculated.

Even so, are you talking about regular exp, sp exp, or both?

it should still come out higher if it was a higher base, but it doesnt. It cant take out for example, 2k exp from a 4kbase because of gap, then take out 4k from a 5kbase on a mob 1 lvl higher

Exactly, so if anything, Devil Yeti XP should be the same or higher than the XP I got from Yetis even with the penalty. The XP was about 100 lower: 7400 for Devil Yetis and 7500 for Yetis.

Edit: yeah, what Vindicator said, lol.

Also, this is just XP. I haven't checked about any SP penalty.

Edit again: with numbers after confirmation.

Well then, that's interesting.

I wonder now what would be the best level/mastery level to be powerfarmed at Ongs...

your statement has no relevance since he said yeti's were giving more experience than the devil yeti's ...even if devil yeti's are a higher level they were giving less exp

Also the same should hold true for sp (base sp and exp gain increase with higher level monsters)...so probably both sp and exp are based on mastery

what a neat thing

That's what I was thinking. So if you have a 9 gap, you should grind on mobs no more than 2 levels higher than you to max your SP gain. I'm stalling now, but I'll post the exact numbers for XP and SP gain later.

Sorry for double post but I wanted to bump this with the detailed information.

Char level 49 with mastery level 48 in full dist party with GT:

Yeti (level 59): 7542 XP / 470 SPXP

Devil Yeti (level 60): 7416 XP / 464 SPXP

So max xp and spxp is with 11 gap from mastery, not 11 gap from char level.

ty for this info i might farm a character with my other pc with 9 gap killing mobs 2 lvls away from the actual character makes it less of a Hassle

Hmm, something isn't adding up for me, or at least I may be misunderstanding what your trying to say. But heres my take at it.

I'm a level 66 euro thats been getting powerleveled at yacha since 59. My masteries are currently at 60. I was getting maybe 2.5k sp per 3 hour ticket...roughly 2400 exp and 275 sp per level 70 yacha kill. Basing that off of my mastery gap, I was 10 levels lower then the mob and should have been getting near max exp/sp gain. My actual char level is just 3-4 levels below them. Each level I gained at yacha lowered the amount of exp/sp I would get, even though my gap remained at 60.

Now that I've moved to general/gaurds(which are 13-14 levels higher then my toon's level) I'm getting 4664 exp/816 sp per normal mob. Since they are so much higher then my level, I figure I'm getting a decent exp penalty, also. If the exp/sp I get jumps when I hit 67 then that would mean the gain is based on the toons level and not masteries, because at the moment, if it were based on mastery level, then I would be 19-20 levels lower then the mob and suffer a HUGE penalty for that.

My $0.02 cents. I havent tested any distribution partys because if I tried to kill a mob 11 levels higher then I am, it would turn around and one shot me. :D

Once you are higher than 60 you will have no penalties for being powerlevel for a lvl 80 on higher levels mobs.

http://www.silkroadonline.net/teaser/eu ... hanges.asp

Look at the botom of the page and is clearly stated that no penalty is applied if lowest and highest level diference on party is below 20. So once you get to 60 best powerlevel spot is Generals.

hmm since like as long as the plvler is within 20 lvls range , there wont be any penalty? So what if i am lvl 64 and the noob is lvl 52 and i can grind at niya guards (& plvling at the same time), will it benefit both plvler and plvled player?

hmmmz that clears up some air
so the 11 gap has to do with the mastery level and not the character level.
makes sence if you ask me

Well found :)

from http://www.silkroadonline.net/teaser/eu ... hanges.asp

so if your plvler is lvl 80, and the noob lvl 60, go generals.

well i have just done another experiment b4 inspection.

lvl 54 noob (mastery 50) is getting more exp/sp at PEG (lvl 64) than any of these: strong EG (lvl 62), bugs (lvl 61 & 63), yetis (lvl 59 & 60).

so.. remains as a mystery huh?
