Exactly. The game was getting so tough to get to 80 even with silk for a legit player, that by introducing powerlvling and letting the gt run during plvling time, it encourages players on the verge of quitting to continue with SRO (with a new euro character) since they have a prospect of capping and being overpowered. The people in the middle of their chinese characters will use them anyway, and the people "just trying out euro" before they quit will start to buy silk again. It's a win-win.

HakubiNi wrote: It's the company powerleveling it refers to. Or I didn't read that right. Powerleveling in the sense of having a high character kill mobs for you is what it is calling an exploit. It also refers to having a company sign on to your character and grind for you which is also called powerleveling, which while not technically an exploit, can still be grouped with other forms of powerleveling.

Hmm I have a high level euro char and I have to say that it's kinda unfair for those of us who actually had to work for it... I understand where the notion is coming from and it's undeniable, heck I hate those bot plvling parties also and even worse, EURO solo botters... (Yes, you heard it, euro chars can actually bot...) But well, there's really nothing you can do about it, coz we all know how Joymax deals with it, "You can do whatever you want as long as you make us some money..." Just ignore them and treat them as insignificant as they should be, pieces of shit who doesn't deserve all this fuss or any bit of recognition at all...
Neway, I myself have to rely on my friends and myself for plvling till my euro reached 72. (Does plvling yourself count as plvling? Hehe) Then afterwards it's been just party play, either with my euro guildmates or some random general shared party and it's actually fun...
Here's some SS with my guildies: (BTW, FARMED Wizards ARE INSANE!)

I havent seen enough groups of euro chars capable of teamwork play in pvp eg jobwars, guildwars. Most cap euro players still ask for 1on1 in cape (at least they do on Hercules). Only one euro guild was competent enough to work in a group (and you always see the same players in jobwars), most dont have a clue :/ I venture to say that they excel in horseriding.

Where is the so-called ilegit here?
Next time someone says in union "Hey I'm full of shield elixires, someone want them for free?" I'll refuse, since I didn't grind for those elixires.
Quite a bit of bull there, trying to exaggerate your point so to seems that it makes some kind of sense.
First of all, this isn't a two way street at all, you are either PL'ed or you PL'ed, it isn't a two way street.
I won't even address the example with the shield elexire has it has no value at all.
I do know and fully expect people standing on the other side of the fence to try and justify by any means their actions. Regardless of the justification, it remains what it is, stealing your level.

Logoff and find another game... yeah, but sorry but no thanks, I prefer to fight the cheaters and clean up a good game than to live and have to start over somewhere else.
The fact is, the freaking GM is unable at present time to recognize who's a botter and who's not. It use to be they use to make rounds and ban bots on the spot, this isn't the case anymore.
If a bot goes around a GM doesn't do anything about it, I'm guessing that's being legit eh? Cause bot didn't get ban, must be legit! Really terrible reasoning, using extreme examples that leads nowhere logical.

wow your ignorant. his example of elixers was used perfectly. its simple, plvling u get things u didnt work for same as it would have been accepting free elixers. that being said so long as its done by hand plvling its legit. JM put it in the game and left it there, and they have not told us that its not ok. any1 who is against plvling ither doesnt have the money to pay for it or doesnt have friends who are nice enough to do it for them. in ither case if you say hand plvling isnt legit u just need to get over the fact that u havent had the oporunity to do it.
besides i think most of us, myself included, that have gotten plvled have returned the favor when we got high enough. in fact ive plvled more than ive gotten plvled.
that being said i still do not have respect for those that do not apreciate being plvled, some1 took the time out of their day from grinding their own character to lvl yours. yes, that means that most of the 70+ euros in game right now i have no respect for. especially the ones who didnt play b4 euro and know nothing of the labor required for grinding a chineese char without pt mobs.

Fact 1: Some people only have about 1 hour to play a day. For those people, they get about 10% a day, and even less as they gets higher level. For those people, paying people for plvl is the best option, since it will take them forever to get anywhere in this game.
Fact 2: It is a lot more economical to pay someone to plvl you. For example when I was around level 42, I had 2 choices. 1) Buy a lvl 42 SOS for around 25 mill. This way, I will need to play for hours to hit level 52. 2) Pay people 200k an hour to plvl at Mujigi and Penon with the 25 mill, for a total of 125 hours of plvl time. This way I hit lvl 52 faster and cheaper.
Fact 3: It is legal to get plvled, even if the plvler is a bot. If there will ever be a bot ban, the plvler will get banned, not the ppl he plvled.

"I must admit, a very interesting fact you are stating there. Because I have no time, hell I might as well also run a bot, I mean I'm legit because I only have 1 hour play so that allows me to bot cause I got no time..."
That kind of thinking opens up pretty wide a Pandora's box of malicious thinking.
The fact that a person has only 30 min a day to play SRO doesn't allow them to cheat in any way, shape or form.

There's a boundary placed and set to separate laws from morals. What ultimately creates the laws? JOYMAX, the company that created Silkroad Online.
Sure, laws are built off of morals, but the difference is laws are created by the authority (JOYMAX INC.). It is up to the creators to set what's righteous and what is wrong.
Having said that, the legitimacy of power-leveling is in fact legal. If you were to point out within JOYMAX's laws, pertaining to, or blatantly stating that power-leveling is completely illegal, then sure, power-leveling will be in fact illegal.
That's the problem, there isn't some sort of rule stating that power-level is wrong. And I'm sure many people before me have all ready stated this. Ignoring this fact is just ignorant and blind.

So how come every person who finds Power Leveling "illegal" never mentioned that the Honor/Academy system is "illegal" too? Oh wait...they might contradict themselves because it's actually another feature in the game huh!
And those that want to work for their levels/items in game? So I'm guessing if a high level friend quits...you'll refuse to take their 1337 gear right? (since everyone will know you didn't "work" for that either)

Powerleveling is legitimate because the majority of people in this community powerlevel. That cannot be argued. Elsewhere, that fact may change but here it has been made legitimate.
That said, what pisses me off about you people is that you can't seem to understand why anyone would not want to be powerleveled. To you this game is only about being capped, and unfortunately that is what the majority of people believe. You say I am jealous of you or poor or that I have no friends, because obviously I secretly want to be capped right? That's why I deleted my last character, started fresh, and log in about once every two weeks. Maybe for once you should see beyond levels. Do you want to know what turned me off with this game? The community. All you people care about is levels. It's a damn rat race. I can't log in and chat with some people or grind with some people because everyone is caught up in their powerleveling, racing to that cap. They will continue to do so indefinitely. All for what, so they can stand a chance in PvP against botters? What else is there to do when you're capped? Sure, castle siege could be interesting but you know already that it will be completely dominated by sun-toting, gold buying, botted up players. So I ask you this: Why in the hell should I feel jealous of you people? What fun is sitting on a horse for hours getting powerleveled so that you can get capped and mash some buttons to kill some botters, realizing a few months later at the next cap that your character is now gimped because of Joymax's ever changing skill dynamics? I came to this game because I thought it would be fun to mingle around with people, possibly in a longer term. Instead all I found was that people are rotten to their very cores. To be honest, at this point I would rather just jump into a casual game of Halo or something on Xbox Live with my RL friends. Sure there are people there as well who share this delusioned view of gaming you have, but I only have to spend a few minutes with them. If you are so obsessed with competition, why not put it into something productive? Games are for fun. Games should be spontaneous. You should not be planning out exactly how you will spend the next five weeks playing a game.

so what possessed you to crack open the .pk2 files and basically try out all the endgame stuff? If anything would burn you out on silkroad , I would think it'd be that, not trying to put you down or anything. anyway someone said it earlier theres a difference between what is law and what is moral, I guess powerleveling is a gray area in there. theres been plenty of things in the game which have been used in ways they may not have been intended. I guess someone needs to write a letter to the GM or programmers and ask them how they expected it to work.

To all the people that say that power leveling is part of the game, that it's the way Joymax intended it, I ask this...
Why would Joymax develop a new race (European) that is party-based, specifically meant to have various classes that work together in a party with different jobs for each class... and then put in a system that allows those very same Euro characters to just sit on an ostrich and soak up exp by a high lvl Chinese legit, or botter?
Regardless of whether power leveling is against the TOS or not, it is destroying the very point of the European race. Europeans are meant to work together to kill mobs and level. They are meant to use their individual skills to help the rest of the party, whether tanking, pulling in mobs, healing other party members, dealing a lot of damage...
I have never seen anything that specifically said Joymax put the Guardian system in for power leveling. They put it in so high levels can help new players out, showing them "the ropes" of the game. Everyone involved gets additional experience boosts through the experience buffs, and guardians get the ability to purchase special items with honor points.
If you want to play Euro, why not actually PLAY it? Why not enjoy the aspects that make Euro unique, different than Chinese? It's a party-based race plain an simple.
Botting is cheating, NOT because it's using third party software, but because the botter is gaining something for free that he would otherwise not be able to get.
Power leveling is cheating, NOT because it's against TOS (it's not really) but because it's gaining something for free that the player would otherwise not be able to get.
I see no difference.
It has nothing to do with third party software. If it did, then people who use Vent or teamspeak or AOL Instant Messenger or xfire, or MSN, would also be cheating because they are using third party software to communicate with in-game friends/guildmates/unionmates in ways that the game would otherwise not allow.
I'm sorry, I just have to laugh at those that say that people are against power leveling because they are "jealous that they are too poor or have no friends that can power level them." I have plenty of high and low level friends, and plenty of money to afford paying for the service. I've been offered it many times, but I turn it down.
Edit:
Shimère wrote: CHIPS wrote: Fact 1: Some people only have about 1 hour to play a day. For those people, they get about 10% a day, and even less as they gets higher level. For those people, paying people for plvl is the best option, since it will take them forever to get anywhere in this game. The fact is, I can't pay for my meal at the restaurant, I might as well leave and screw the owner cause he won't get my money because I'm too poor. "I must admit, a very interesting fact you are stating there. Because I have no time, hell I might as well also run a bot, I mean I'm legit because I only have 1 hour play so that allows me to bot cause I got no time..." That kind of thinking opens up pretty wide a Pandora's box of malicious thinking. The fact that a person has only 30 min a day to play SRO doesn't allow them to cheat in any way, shape or form.
I couldn't agree more. I am one of those people who rarely has time to play. I MIGHT get in 4 or 5 hours a week at best in this game. That's not consecutive either, maybe an hour every other day or so. That doesn't mean that I should bot or power level so I can get to that high level.
I'm only lvl 51 after a year and a half or a little more of playing this game. I'm fine with that.
I wish people could realize this game shouldn't be a race to cap. People spend so much time and effort racing to cap to do what? PVP against other capped players waiting for the next cap to come, then wash, rinse, repeat?
