You cannot down grade your operating system so trying to install XP while having vista will not work.
Least thats what I heard...

This should work, because if you try to install while your log into Vista it won't let you because XP is lower version of Windows, but if you restart comp and if the XP cd is bootable it should automatically boot and follow installation instructions.
Warning: It may require to format your hard rive which means to delete everything in it and install a new installation, you will lose all your personal and user installed applications.

Just back up the bitmap files on a cd or a removable disk (or a floppy disk, yes I'm old fashion >.<) just for your personal safe keeping. You wont loose your guild or union emblem ingame, those have already been uploaded to the server and wouldnt change, no matter what happens to your computer.

Back up anything you need to keep (hint, huge downloaded installers might be good to keep so you don't have to redownload)
Put your XP disc in and select the boot menu (one of the F buttons, can't remember which though).
Choose to boot from that drive.
You're going to have to format your harddrive before installing. The whole process of format/install should take around an hour or so depending on your comp and what formatting options you choose (make sure you find out the correct format for windows NTMS or something similar, but double check with Microsoft).
Once you're done installing, do all the starting up prompt shit and get to it installing your programs like MS Office, SRO, etc.

yes that's how you'd do it. You don't run the XP installation from within Vista. Shut down Vista, restart the computer with the XP CD in the drive, and let it boot up.
In the beginning of the boot process, it will probably say something like "press any key to boot from CD" and you have to hit enter quickly otherwise Vista would boot again.

So tell me whats with XP buggy huh? I know when Windows 95 came out. Everyone was like I'll stick to 3.11. When 98 came out everyone was stick to 95 enc enc. When XP came out everyone was using 2k or win 98 sec edition. Even some where using Win Milenium (Alright that OS sucked di.ck!).
I dont have ANY problems with vista, it runs smooth. Got the basic (Windows 95) layout. And it runs like hell. The file using is far bether then Windows XP. The booting much more faster (if you see the things whats he have to load like 3th party programs).
Btw 95% of the errors on WIN XP / Vista machines are User errors, wrong software, wrong drivers enc. Those 5% in the OS is just soooo litle.

untill SP2
its known to everyone that MS releases their OS always too soon, unfinished/full of bugs... due to comercial ($$$$) reasons...
then they release the Service Pack patches and so on, to correct the problems the OS shouldn't have in the first place...
don't get me wrong, im no MS hater, and I will use Vista in the future..., just not right now...
