Proletariat = good

Private ownership = bad

Just saved you 2 hours, 59 minutes and 53 seconds of BS.

Wow, that is probably the most simplified and absurd statement regarding to Marxism I have ever heard/read.

What about "Greed is Good" for capitalism? lame

+1.

Assuming that I don't understand the basic ideas of marxism is insulting. Please don't patronize me.

You want patronizing? How about this: why don't you go and rest a bit sweetie, because you're getting a little worked up over what was nothing more than little joke. I "assum[ed] you don't understand the basic ideas of Marxism..."? What I actually assumed was that you were intelligent enough to realize this was more a comment about my feelings of the limits of Marxist intellectual thought than an assumption about your own knowledge. My apologies...won't make that mistake again.

There. That's patronizing.

The mistake you made was attempting a poor joke. When you try to humour someone, make sure it's about something worth laughing about. You failed at making a joke, and as such it could not be taken as one.

It can't have been a joke because I didn't think it was funny so it must be a personal attack on me for my lack of knowledge about Marxism?

*note to self: don't joke with dom*

The joke is insulting because of it's content, and it's content is not justified because the joke was not funny.

Look, there's a long tradition of humor reducing a complex idea to (over)simplified basics using the "X = good, Y = bad" framework. It is meant to be silly but contain a kernel of truth.

I'm sorry you took my silly statement to be "insulting" and "patronizing" but your response is "oversensitive" and "irrational."
