At the moment I am a lvl 80 hybrid int spear with Fire and Light....I think that if I switch to Ice and Light the extra defense would make up for the little attack I'd be losing from fire. But this would be an expensive decision and I would not want to have to switch back if it didn't work out.

What do you think?

At level 80 you can afford to have both. After that you will have to make a choice sooner or later. If you want a weapon skill and a force (lightning), then you can afford one more subskill. In that case, cold (snow shield) > fire (imbue + nukes).

Personally I'm going for:
cap 90: bicheon 90, lightning 90, cold 60, fire 60
cap 100: bicheon 100, lightning 100, cold 60, fire 40
etc.

For a hybrid its better lighting. I`m going hybrid too and alredy switched to Spear Lighting Cold. My fire mastery is at lvl 60. Cuz of snow shield my defense will be huge thnx to the phy def buff from ice mastery. That way str`s wont be such a problem if I`ll get +5 or higher spear. Against ints you wont have that problem too cuz you`ll have pretty much good mag balance so dont think they should be a problem. But if your not sure, take garments.

May as well go 90 ice 30 fire if you're going 60 fire. If you'd taken the time to look at skills, you'd know that fire doubles your mag def from 60-61. Chop 1 level off light/bich.

did a bunch of tests last night with a friend. the difference between book 1 of ice level 1 and book 4 of fire maxed out was like 300 on an imbues normal attack and 500 on a skill. the guy was level 80.

he then lowered fire, and maxed ice imbue, and the difference in attack was nothing at all. dont look too hard at the numbers. its the 100% that matters and that % never goes up or down. every imbue will hit the same. sure at the low levels the imbues made a huge difference. now they are all the same and will always be the same.

what you lose by getting rid of fire is the damage given by the physical buff and the magical defence. thats about all you lose.

thanks for the responses, I was kinda hoping that this is what people agreed on because I thought it would be a good build but didn't want to switch until I heard from others the same thing.

Looks like I'm gonna try out Ice :D

For those that are voting to stay....can you give a legit argument as to why you think so?

I did not vote, but the main reason to stay is.......It will benefit you the most right now to have fire. Sure maybe the 90 cap will be different but we wont know for sure until the cap raise comes.

There was a thread from a lvl 80 hybrid spear nuker magic balance around 100%. He was having trouble running snowshield at 50%. Kept running out of mana against a glavier.

So yeah I would start planning for the fact that you may want to switch but don't switch until you need to.

Fire imbue is a little stronger as well the physical increase buffs, Which keep those crits hard.

omg ! i never thought of testing it but i did now and WOW

difference between
+cold lv 1 book 1 cold mastery 70 <> Soul fire 6 fire mastery 76 (dont forget that extra 6%)

>Nukes(around 10k) <> 500-800dmg difference ,

>not using imbue at all <> 1700-1800 difference .

not bad at all , and not to mention the skill lv-ups , and if u put that extra 6% on from mastery .

but the weapon skill test wasnt that great , and for a hybrid like me , its important .

with soul fire lv 6 had 6200 dmg , same skill , cold 1 : 4400 . no imbue : 1700 - 2000 dmg :D

all tests on same mob (shaman 78 )

difference gets bigger cuz weapom skill mag attack rely's only on the imbue , but with the skill tree lv-ed up , lets say it would be about 5600 or so ?

this was a great discovery for me , makes thinking of switching to lightning much easier . THX Fly ! :)
