why do u ban someone that said that yes they bot but they need help?, which that help doesnt have to so with a problem of that said bot?, in the forum rules it states:

Quote:
Silkroad Forums strictly prohibits the following:
Promotion, distribution, or support of botting, hacking, or the use of other 3rd party programs.

Sale of digital items, gold or accounts for cash or In Game Gold value.

Hack programs, no-cd's, keygens or bots for any games.

Inappropriate content or materials.

Advertising and spam in forums or chat channels.

Links to malicious sites or downloads.

Posting another persons personal information for any reason.

which in many posts that you have banned poeple they WERE not "promoting, Distrebuting" a bot,

also you let members allow to break rules:

Quote:
Silkroad Forum Rules
Do not double post. Edit your last post.

Do not 'bump' more than once a day.

Do not use excessive language.

Do not flame or personally attack others.

Show respect for all moderators at all times.

soo. in the long run you ban poeple for not breaking rules, but not ban poeple for breaking them??, okok so if u ban me from this forum youll be a hypocrite, because this is considered "spam, and flaming", so please give me an explanation for your banns,

ALL OTHER POSTS BESIDES LEGIT ANSWERS WILL BE IGNORED

thank you very much

Im not a mod, but they dont like bots im guessing...
So when someone says they tryed to use a bot, or something. Like that guy who said he got viruses, they just dont like the fact of bots, even though there not breaking the rules.

dont get me wrong, i hate botters, but even if one comes out and says yes he bots but he needs help , that isnt related to that bot client i would be gladly to help and mods shouldnt ban someoen from it( as the yes from that post the viruses were from the bot, but the help wasnt about the bot),

i cant believe this is a serious question, but "3rd party programs" refers to bots, if you don't understand this then please read the Joymax ToS... o wait they removed that entire section from their ToS >.>. well then 3rd party applications on srf is directly talking about bots and botters..

O don't worry. I always post when needed, however. I truly do appreciate it more if you guys with critisisms. Which we always accept and take seriously do it in PMs as to not clutter the forums.

Now, back to your question. Well, we could edit and edit and perfect, and modify, and make acceptable, and specific our rules. However, there is always going to be someone out there who scrutinizes them because they don't agree about something, which is fine really. We want people to have a voice, i mean we are the caretakers and the rule makers, however you as the users do have voices and opinions that we like heard, as long as they ain't slanderous or anything. So we would never oppress that.

That user was a BOT user. Past or Present. On our forums, we stay clean, we stay legit. We pride ourselves on being the most renowned SRO fan forums, who stay legit. Now, of course your going to say that there are some closet botters amongst the users, which is most likely true. I have no doubt about that, but we can't ban people on speculation, we aren't tyrants. We need either an admission, promotion, support ect.

It's as simple as that, you bot, and your gone. Thats it. No second chance, no middle line, no fuzzy gray area. Its as simple as black and white.

I did say i felt sorry for the guy, yeah he messed up his comp, and as a gamer i can sympathize with him on that. However, as a gamer as well im not going to feel sorry for him for botting, he takes up our bandwidth, he and people like him cause trouble for us who truly Play the game legit.

Now, about the excessive language and flaming, well we have implemented a word filter, but people try to get around it still. We take care of all that we can, and what we think is most appropriate. I mean, of course there is going to be some flaming and so on that goes unchecked, i mean thats just a fact of life. We cant be everywhere, in every post, at every second. Even if the majority of the forum members were mods it would just not happen.

Now, if you think we should be banning people on the spot for execive language and flaming, then wave bye bye to like a good chunk of the forums. What we normally do with that, is 1st edit anything which is way over the top, and send a warning. If we see him doing it again, we send a second warning, also making it public. If he decides to ignore that warning again, then it's Asta la vista baby.

Yes, we are a forum, and we have a sense of proffesionalism, however we are people too. People of all ages, from all backgrounds, sometimes we like to mess around, post a link to something funny, chat, you know live life, and be social. There is nothing wrong with that. It's just having the users themselves understand the line. Where are they stepping over, and when are they keeping good?

You must remember, for this to truly work. The users need to pick up their slack, its not a 1 way relationship. This is 2 way, you guys need to help us help you.

I mean, without you guys, the forums would be nothing. Whats a forum without its users? So yeah, i hope that answers your question, but next time. I would really appreciate it if it was done through PM.

"...or the use of other 3rd party programs."

so if he admits he uses a bot, he is basically saying that he uses 3rd party programs.

that's why the person is banned

the second set of rules are cautionary. those arenot as strictly enforced. I mean it would suck if i accidentally double posted (which i have) and gotten banned. Obviously rules like flames and double post are at your own discretion. if someone continues to double post they will get banned. but if it happens once in a while, i don't expect the person to get banned

There is ZERO tolerance.
  • 2) Be a bigot. Post SS of globals, whispers, or other interactions with a member of a particular race, nationality, religion, sex, etc. that is meant to defame, degrade, or ridicule them for being a member of that class. Make threads about how much you hate people from X and how they are ruining the game for you. Put racist slogans, images, etc. in your sig/avatar. Screw it up once and you get a warning. Ignore that warning and you will lose the right to post, display signatures, etc. Continue to defy and you will be banned, period.
  • 3) Disrespect the SRF staff. Blatantly defy a request or instruction from a mod. Post comments about a mod's inability to do their job properly after being modded. Refuse to comply with forum standards after being warned by a mod for an infraction. The three-strike rule is in effect here as well. Insulting a mod via PM counts too. Don't think you can get away with it. The staff here devotes a lot of time on a volunteer basis to keep this forum a nice place to visit and a nice community to be a part of. Push this issue and you will be banned.
  • 4) Remake an account after being banned once for one of the above. We will keep deleting your posts and banning your IPs. You will run out of patience and proxies before we run out of the desire to keep you out. It takes you 10x as long to remake as it does us to ban. Making an alternate identity with which to flame, spam, etc. will cause both accounts to be banned.
  • 5) Be a constant problem. Flame in nearly every post. Accuse everyone who starts a topic of being a bot. Spam ridiculous nonsense at any opportunity. Do stupid things to intentionally a) piss off the mod team or b) piss off another forum member. Inflate your post count with garbage. Post disturbing, inappropriate, or NSFW (not safe for work) images in threads, avatars, sigs, etc. If you intentionally make more work for us, you'll find yourself banned.

***IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN A MEMBER HERE. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY POSTS YOU HAVE. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN YOUR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS. IF YOU DO THESE THINGS, YOU ARE GONE. END OF STORY.***

A big thank you to all the users here at SRF who simply follow the rules. You are what makes this place as great as it is.

yeah but then it says

OR the use of third party programs
if you admit to using bot it means you are using third party program so that is why you are banned
i think thisis more a question of you not understanding the rules rather than the mod not following forum policy

Isn't using something supporting it? I mean, you use it. Thus you give the company money and promotion, which makes them want to develop it more, so. yeah, isnt that kinda support? O.o

I mean, if you guys wanted to, and it's ok with the majority of the forums i can tweak that to include the specific word "USE" in the bot part. Theres not problem with that, and it would avoid these kinda conflicts.

However, you are kinda avoiding this:

1. O yeah, we should change that. Goldbuying is also insta ban. :P
2. I really hope that that was a lousy failed attempt at a joke
3. O.o like. wtf

They don't insta-ban people because SG is a very patient man and he tends to give people way too many opportunities on these forums.

It doesn't matter what you see or think. Those are the rules set for the forum, once you own your own forum, you can decide whether or not something is right or wrong, until then just follow the rules set by the mods.

Also it clearly says that admit to have used a bot is a permanent ban. You clearly keep avoiding this for some reason. And no, it doesn't say that you get automatically banned for flaming, it's only if you do it excessively, not saying that you should flame but I'm sure no one can truthfully say they haven't flamed ever. Except maybe Manowar and Sylhana.

lol your body doesn't need botting...okay. let me split this up into two groups

1st group:Drug Addiction
-Things that you do for entertainment for yourself.
-You have priorities over this but you can't set them straight.
-IT FEELS SOME KIND OF GOOD WHEN YOU DO IT!
-You don't gain any kind of REAL value by doing this.
-It's mainly for fun fun fun...

2nd group:Greed Addiction
-Things that you do for personal gain.
-It may not be fun, but it's worth something.
-There's a small chance that you may get banned/kicked for doing this, but you do it anyway, hoping you won't get caught
-BOTTING
-BOTTING
-BOTTING
