What I don't understand is why PM you? Shouldn't the public be aware of what is going on? Or is it easier for you to ban us without others knowing through PMs? Come on SG you see the frustration. People are just waiting so they can voice their opinion without persecution AKA Getting Banned. That is why 1/2 of the people aren't speaking up. No one wants banned, especially just because a MOD doesn't like them.

You make no sense. What you're saying is that after you become a mod, you're not allowed to make any topics except ones that pertain to modding?

A topic about killing Mujigis with a friend is a lot different than repeatedly creating topics to bait flames.

@ tigerlein: mods are allowed to post topics too, even about something as small as killing things w/ a new bow.

@ Sagan: i ban as a last resort. i would much rather work things out. i give people many, many chances, especially those who have been here a long time, but there are things that are unforgivable, such as fudge's behavior here today.

not all vehicles for change are effective in every situation. what fudge did was the SRF equivlent of blowing himself up in a crowded market to make his point. what you are suggesting is the equivalent of setting up a picket line and chanting "we want change!" until the board changes to what you want it to be.

please, understand what i am driving at. there are over 40k registered users here, 10k+ of which are active daily. hundreds of new topics a day, and thousands of new posts. a very small handful of people are dissatisfied. i am sorry that you are dissatisfied. but this is NOT the way to fix things. i cannot impress that upon you enough. i WILL not be bullied into doing things your way, nor will i allow my mods to be. if you have suggestions, complaints, criticisms, etc., i am reachable, i am reasonable, and i try my best to accomodate every poster on this board. if your ideas, criticisms, etc. are more than just "ZOMG so-and-so locked my topic, bad mod, fire, burn, kill kill kill!!!", they will be addressed, and action will be taken.

Do you know why he lost it? I made a topic about why the mods get mad. At first it was a 1/2 joke 1/2 real thread but turned into this. But it was quickly locked and for what reason?

Ohh yea! The MOD didn't understand the thread. I am not pointing out specific MODs or doing anything wrong. I would just like you to address the problems users have here.

Guys, just quit being mad for a second, and think.

A lot of us are angry. There are complains about spammers, flames. We accuse eachother of botting, scamming, we insult people with a different build, with a lower level, and what not.

You're angry at the mods because they lock certain topics, you get angry because they ban people.
But if they don't do anything it's not right either. Why cant Karlos post a thread about what he did in SRO today? You guys rather read another 'Why SRO totally sux and why Joymax is shit'-thread?

Who says the quality of SRF lies in the hands of the staff? Most of you guys all want to be mods, to make SRF better.
But you don't need a mod tag, an admin tag, or even ultra super leet mod/admin powers to make SRF a better place.

If we just respect each other, accept that some people like a specific build or are proud that they archived something others might find retarded. Instead of starting flames, why not say something friendly instead?
If we just try to respect each other more, the staff doesn't have to hurry up and lock a thread because they already see a flamewar coming. If we can just discuss things about the game we (once) all liked in a friendlier way, SRF will definitely improve so much. Why should we only look at our differences? Why should we only approve of our way of doing things, whether in SRO or IRL, instead of trying to see it from someone elses point of view?

We can all at least try to make SRF a better place.
But if nobody wants to give it a try it'll never work out.

+1 to this too. He PMed you like you asked and still was banned. Unless he threatened your kids/life I see no good reason for a banning. This is total crap. I see bad language in the forums everyday. No one is a saint. and EVERYONE deserves a second chance. I'm sure you have been given one without many people knowing.

@Waisha: i understand completely that things can sometimes be said and done in anger. i am willing to consider unbanning some of the casualties here, since a good discussion has stemmed from this. do you all remember Jex's thread months ago? ebb and flow, ebb and flow. it all comes around again.

@Sagan: I too am curious as to who you really are, but that is for another time. I would love to address the problems that users have, but i find it hard to take those concerns seriously when they come out as flames. all i ask is a bit of maturity.

listen, the mods are human. they make mistakes. but the response to those mistakes shouldn't be any different from anyone else manking a mistake. it seems when a mod locks something wrongfully or misinterprets what someone posts, it's immediately "BURN THEM AT THE STAKE!! TAR AND FEATHER!!! MOD ABUSE!!!". guys, relax. sometimes things get wrongfully locked. BUT DON"T WORRY! there's an unlock button. we can fix it. just CALMLY, rationally, MATURELY PM us and say "hey, i think you misinterpreted my thread's intent, let me explain what i meant" rather than "ZOMG U SUCK, U LOCKED MY THREAD< EVIL MOD BASTARD!!"

we will have more mods. one per section, and a handful of global mods. users will have the ability to report posts (yes, even those by mods!) I, or another mod/admin will see every report. you will be heard. it will get easier. it will get better. for now, we try our best.

I mods. It seems like, since the start of December or so, they've been worrying less about their personal reputation for being nice guys and been more keen on getting the dirty work done. Good work girls; it shows.

I've PMed SG a lot, mostly bitching on how "dissatisfied" I am, and he always tries his best to get stuff fixed. The key to fixing things is not to stir the pot of shit.
