Stone faced while reading it. Seriously...there are plenty of other romance stories out there that have actually made me think, but this...this is lame. It was honestly not deserving enough to be compared with the bane of all romance stories-Romeo and Juliet. Dont understand people who find this "moving". The comments made me think more than this story.

holy smoke.

that's pretty awesome.
i wonder what he was thinking.. i mean, its not like you carve 6000 steps
out of a mountain in a snap..

if the love of my life would really want such a thing, like steps up that
mountain, she would tell me to stop after 2 weeks because she'd be worried
about either my health or about me dropping down those stairs because i'm
too tired to keep myself standing.

its give or take... this guy gave too much imo.

...come to think of it, it must have been one hell of a uneventful/cursed life. I would never abandon my family, friends, and society for the sake of one women. Not to mention some parents full of grief and pretty pissed off.

A man's place in society is working his ass off to please his woman.

What are you talking about? Romeo and Juliet is a story of a pedophile. Some 16 year old boy gets a crush on a 12 year old girl and they are stupid together.

This is awesome, they lived in a cave for 50 years because society shunned them, he carved 6,000 steps into a mountain with his own resources. Even though the woman rarely went down the mountain.
This is great.

Read what cin wrote. As for your opinion on love and Romeo and Juliet, way too shallow. If interpreting that Shakespeare classic with that immature (and shallow) mind of yours is the best you can do, dont write before thinking.

Romeo and Juliet share more love probably more than what you and 10 future girls could share together...assuming that you could get even one girl...

Instead of going to India this guy carved a starway into the side of a mountian, impressive, no one here has the right to judge what a person does when thy heart yearns for one other.

Did you read cin's post? It made so much sense, and shows what a shallow minded person the guy was and how dumb you are if you shed tears at this dramatic story.

Symbolic, okay? Thats all it was-symbolic. Financially, he did nothing to improve their lives. Socially, he did nothing but outcast them. Most importantly, did he help make a better life for them? No. Blinded by their love, both probably didnt realize the limits of their happiness-what a life. 50 years in a crag in the mountain, forlorn and away from family and friends and civilization.

There is nothing impressive about carving 6000 steps into a mountain. Magnificent show of strength and perseverance, yes, but in the end amounting to nothing to advance their lives.

In the sense of a love story, but like all Shakespeares work it's a 'language feast'

Who are you to say what is best for a person, you can assume but that is all, it might come to pass or not, you cannot say. And from your post you write as if you lived with the guy and his wife those 50 years,
Quote:
Socially, he did nothing but outcast them. Most importantly, did he help make a better life for them? No. Blinded by their love, both probably didnt realize the limits of their happiness-what a life. 50 years in a crag in the mountain, forlorn and away from family and friends and civilization.
do not claim something you cannot prove. And the whole story is somethings not always told from a simple article such as this.

... You're saying all this, and then you're like "Romeo and Juliet is awesome".
Romeo practically kidnapped Juliet, and then ended both their lives, as well as the lives of Mercutio and that other dude (forgot his name) as well as Juliet's mom (I think someone else too, could be wrong). He intensified the fight between both the Capulets and the Montagues. He got married to her after knowing her for a day.
Ultimately though, my point is they both died, and life is just overall more sucky.

Now this guy, who was actually trying to help, he made lamps and stairs, and all this crazy ass stuff to try and make their lives better. I'm assuming they just didn't decide to go live in the mountains on a whim (like Romeo and Juliet, deciding to get married, fake Juliet's death, and then run away, all after knowing each other for a few hours). I think that they were pretty severely outcasted for them to go to such drastic measures.

You don't know what you're talking about.

@Crimson
Lol, if he made them any less steep, he'd have to carve his way INTO the mountain, lol. You know what I mean? The mountain's natural slope just made it so he had to do that.

I would have given into your argument already if the article had been comprised only of text. There were little pictures included with it-boy, did it look destitute or what. You don't need an auto-biography to know what kind of life they lived. Its pretty easy to tell that already from the pictures, and if that doesnt convince you, re-read the article and pay attention to some of the quotes that the two lovebirds make.
