Energy Drinks

I always hear that energy drinks are bad for you. Something about sugar and caffeine.
Just wondering about this. I have a big 40-pack of Monster out in my garage. I bought it for Wrestling season, but I stopped drinking it after the first few when my teammates told me that it'd wreck up my body.

Here's the nutritional information:

As you can see, an entire can contains about 200 calories. Then you throw in 200% of your daily value of Vitamin B12, B6, Riboflavin, and Niacin.
The sugar isn't that high either, compared to a regular soft drink. It's 27g per serving, while for a drink such as Coke, it's usually in the 40+ (assuming that you don't drink Diet).

So what really is so bad about energy drinks? Caffeine? When I go and buy a gallon of orange juice or apple juice from the market, it's always hovering at about 150 calories for 100% daily Vitamin C. And nothing extra. And there's always a bunch of sugar in it too. For example, Tropicana usually has more than 30g of sugar per serving.

Ugh. From how they talk about energy drinks where I live, you'd already have every possible form of cancer by now.

Only energy drink I drink is Monster. The only reason they are "bad" is because of the over abundance of caffeine and sugar. Anything can be "bad" if not given in the right moderation. If you are only having one a day then you're fine. I have one a day/every other day. Energy drinks are fine, don't worry about it fena. IE: I play tennis just about everyday fena, doesn't hinder my performance what so ever. Hope that helps.

So techincally ur only sposed to drink half the can. People prolly overdid it and got health problem and gave them a bad name.

What's the point of even drinking them? THey're just another bullsh1t trend and then people can't stop drinking them.

I used to drink Red Bull or Adrenaline before swim meets a few years ago.. Especially for the 500 free.. I took time off every time until I realized I was beginning to get addicted to it. I couldn;t swim without it. I tried drinking Rockstar before the 500 free and I threw up everything I had that day. Right into the gutter.

I was checked for drugs that day.. They found nothing but I also was going through some withdrawal.. I was shaking the entire week and my arms just kept twitching.., I was a wreck. I lost 10 lbs in that week alone...

Well thats just my experience from energy drinks... Only thing I eat now before swim meets are powerbars.

They're bad for you if you mix hem with alcohol: Vodka Red Bull.

But as the name sais, you can only mix them with Red Bull, but cuz Red Bull is here like a freaking €1 per can, people mix it wih something else. The cheaper brands from c1000/AH/Super de Boer.

This can be dangerous.

The ingredients aren't good for you. Drinking them daily is bad enough, the best bet is to drink one every once in a while. I drink a can or 2 a month, it tastes good if you ask me =D

You're better off with water or a real sports drink like Gatorade I bet. I wouldn't drink that energy drink shit if I was planning on doing a lot of exercising.
