IMO, SP farming is boring. VERY boring. Some people want to farm with decent exp so they can freaking level! So here we go
Start out with a character with garment and bow. Bow allows faster leveling early on. You can also choose the weapon you will have 50 levels from creation.
Like all other farming guides say, get to level 5 as quickly as possible. Put your stat points according to the build you choose. Get the imbue you want, not necessarily fire or ice. If you have a bow and are going to be a bow character, get anti devil. Otherwise, follow your guide. Having sword/blade or glaive/spear will most likely result in only having the imbue.
Now for the slightly different part. Get to level 10 with your masteries as high as possible.
Get to level 16 while still putting your stats according to the build.
At this point, you should have a 6 level gap. Now, farm at the stronghold. SP gain may not be as much. This guide is helping you set up for a more spread out farm session.
If you manage to level up, which is easy with 6 gap, you may either raise your mastery to keep level 6 gap or have a level 7. People choosing level 7, listen up. IMO, it's best to have 7 level gap for your odd character levels, and level 6 for your evens.
So keep doing this until you have enough sp, shouldn't push you far enough that you're bored out of your mind.
(This is my first guide, please don't be harsh and such)

Farming at 16 with a 9 gap has been proven the most efficient, ok yes farming with a 7 gap is better than not farming at all, but its very inefficient

If your character is level 20, heuksal mastery is level 11, and fire mastery is level 11... you have a 9 level gap.
If your character is level 20, heuksal mastery is level 11, and fire mastery is level 15... you have a 5 level gap.

I have created a new char and kept a 5 level gap through out the game... i am lvl 23 now and i have everything i use leveled up to max available (lvl 18 ) including two weapons and still have around 600 sp to spare.
I find that a 5-6 level gap to be great for leveling up and collecting sp... by the time i finish the quests for a level im leveled up for the next level of quests.
As per the weapon i recommend the spear for pure int and glaive for pure str. try to get sos at levels 8/16/24/32 etc.. and i dont recommend going hybrid.. i've tried that on my 1st char and i found pure chars to have much higher attack power than my hybrid char.

Mmk I'm seeing many different answers here. I'm just putting my opinion out there. If you want to follow this guide, go ahead. If you don't, don't.

I definetly agree with 9 gap to farm, 0 gap to lvl. The point of farming is to get as much SP as possible in as little time as possible. If you keep lvling, it will just end up being that much harder and take much longer to bring your skills up to your lvl. I would rather farm lots then not have to for a while and lvl like mad, then to lvl slow and get sp slower.

Uh this isn't really a guide at all, just a suggestion that I'm sure a lot of people have already done.

Honestly, if you think farming is boring. Gosh, just wait till you get to high levls, if you ever do . I find farming at the bandit den way more fun than leveling with a 0 gap.
By the way, nice write up.

another thing you can do is once you know what level your going to sp farm at lvl0 gap to it by uping one skill mastery, then de-level that master down 9 levels once you get there.
im going to sp farm at level 28 with a 9 level gap on horses most likely. ill have all the important level 19 skills that a glaive / blade user needs.

Ok, I tried a variation of this method....
I did something like masteries to 5 at lvl 5 and 10 at lvl 10. I leveled quick to 16, by which time I filled up the other skills to mastery lvl 10 according to my planned build.
So, I had lvl 10 mastery cold, fire, lit, spear and bow plus the skills allowed with those masteries... I leveled 16 to 20 pretty quick and had a 9 gap on 19 and 20 (repeating a few times by delvling) which offered an interesting sp to xp ratio for this level range.
This may be an alternative for some people who either hate bandit den or think farming such a drag that they want to do it anywhere but there. The above set up is versatile cause it gives you many good skills that allow to be stronger.
However... Realistically, this is slow, which I found out. New players may wish to level fast, and they will to a point but then what... a couple issues, either level with a gap (slow in itself and slower than farming at 16) or try to 0 gap (fast but weak cause you don't have the farmed sp kickass)... All high lvl players suggest farming at 16 cause grinding at their level is taking longer than it did at 16, HEED THEIR ADVICE.
That being said, I had to do a lot of work to fix it. If you screwed up or tried to experiment like I did, do the cursed heart quest at 20 and put the masteries at 7, delevel and farm like mad, end of story!
But, here's an alternative, at the same time that you are fixing your screw up, you can do what I did which was to level to 25 first so that when you delevel you kick ass.
I knew I had to do the cursed heart quest anyway, so I just kept leveling and collected 300 hearts and leveled to 25. Now, if you choose to do this it will take time... cause your mastery is still low. What I did was bring up fire and bow mastery to 20-21. I was already going to have to fix all my skills and all this did was cost more. So, if you can afford it, it helps... and you can do this in two stages. Collect 300 hearts and from level 25 reduce 30 points of skills/masteries, then delevel to 20 and collect the remaining hearts needed for lvl 7 masteries in all, then delevel to 16 and you're all set.
And... If you're really rich do either full alteration with Skill Edit Potions or a combination of Skill Edit Potions and cursed hearts (which is what I did). That way you can get the full amounts of sp from the highest investments and then lose the unrecoverable sp from the hearts in low amounts of sp in the lower skills of the remaining adjustments.
