Guide to Player Killing So you wanna be a k1ll3r? Then I suggest you forfeit of any means of leveling up, making money, and getting a job because SRO is a HATER You'll find this guide several times more in-depth and thorough than most pk guides because I've been pking with two accounts for a while and have been experimenting with the pk system. I have listed almost every possible consequence of pking and tips if you decide to pk. You'll also learn any problems pertaining to player killing and even a sample playerkilling build. You might notice that some of the facts are obvious and common sense to you, but that’s because I made this guide fornewbies who want to know about the PK system in SRO.
The PK System:
- Your name will turn PINK if you simply attack a player or his animal. It will stay pink for twenty seconds, unless you’re attacked. A pink name is the same as a red name, but you won’t lose sp or items when you die, and its not permanent (no pk points added)

- If you kill someone, your name will turn RED and newbs will ask you why. Not only that, but you will receive one daily pk and 12000 pk points per kill.
- If you are in red, any level (1~XX) can attack you and will not be penalized. In fact, they will enjoy getting exp and items from you.
- The higher the PK level, the more chances of dropping an item. By the time you killed five people, you will always lose an item.
- You will not drop your held weapon on death
- Every time you die, your daily PK will be lowered by one
- The limit for PK points is 200,000. You will not be able to kill anymore if you are at 200,000 points
- You have a daily PK of 15. Once you reach 15/15, you are unable to attack players.

- However, this does not mean you can kill 15 players a day. If a player is about 8-10 levels below you, you will receive 3 pk. That means if you’re level 30 attacking level 20 players, you’re done after your 5th victim. That’s right, no wild killing spree allowed. Sucks
- Killing any animal will account towards your Daily PK. This includes horses, trade transports, dogs, and wolves
This is the basic structure of the SRO PK system. However, there are several limitations put upon pkers… Other Consequences of Player Killing:- Cannot use the in-town teleport systems to teleport to Jangan, Donwhang, or Hotan
- Cannot stay in town for long. You lose health by percentage (about 1.5%) every damn second you are in town.
- You cannot set up stalls while in murder mode
- Killing a player in order to defend yourself (while in red), will result in +12000 pk points and one daily pk
- If a level 19 player attacks you with his 2nd degree spear and calls you a pussy, you run away cuz can only attack 20+ levels.
- If a player has a job suit on, he is definitely a level 20+
- Pets will attack you even after you kill the owner
- You can’t use scrolls or horses. That means ANY scrolls, including the reverse scroll.
- That means hunter is the only job allowed. You can’t summon a transport for a trader. And if you pk a 1-star trader, his transport, and then put a thief suit on to steal his loot, guess what… No Transport!!

- Wearing a job suit will help you only if a thief/hunter/trader is chasing you. If killed by a thief/hunter/trader, you will lose little exp (-2001 exp for me), no sp, no item loss, and some job experience loss. Also, if you die as a thief/hunter/trader, your daily pk or pk points will not go down.
- However, if a normal player kills you while wearing a job suit, you will suffer the regular penalties as a murderer.
- You gain very little exp for player killing, maybe a 100 more exp than the mobs at your level
Unless you’re really into pking and are willing to sacrifice the progress of your character, I’m gonna say don’t pk at all. Cleaning the murder status is very hard and definitely not worth the curiosity. Two kills will probably give you an hour or two of setback (depending on your level). Anyways….. Cleaning your Murder Status:- In order to remove your murder status, you must work your PK points down to 0. Dying by players give u -200 pk points and -2% exp and some sp, dying by mobs give you -600 pk points and -6% exp and some sp, and killing white/green mobs give you -3 point each, and blue mobs give you -1 point each
- If you kill two players, as mentioned above, you will receive 2400 pk points and two daily pk. You will either die from players 12 times and make up 24%, or you will have to kill 800 white monsters or 2400 blue monsters while looking around constantly for other players.
- However, once you become an all-out murderer, there’s no turning back. Because if you have 200,000 pk points, you must kill 65,000~100,000 white/green mobs, or 200,000 blue mobs to work down to 0 PK points. Or die 1,000 times from players or 300 times from mobs (that’s TWENTY levels down and like TONS of sp).
- If you’re serious about cleaning your murder status, I suggest you find a nice quiet place to kill mobs. Remember to store all your gear in a storage. Some recommended places are the {a} Stone Ghost Castle or the {b} Tomb, cuz nobody really goes there but a couple of level ten who dont even know what a red name is for. Also, you can kill Ghost/Devil Bugs {c} behind the mountains south of Hyungno Homeland, occasionally I found areas behind mountains where no one really grinded at

Despite the above consequences, killing is nevertheless fun and worth doing. I suggest, if you want to pk, that you make a side character, level him up to 2X~3X, and pwn all them botters and noobs below your level. Now for the big tips: Player Killing Tips: - To attack a player, press alt+left click
- To use a skill/spell on a player first, press alt+(number of skill on your quickslot)
- Right after you are resurrected, you are immune for five seconds. However, you cannot use skills or pick up items.
- If you are being tracked down by a high level, there are several options you can take:
- Run to the nearest ferry and teleport. Then immediately run to the left or right and spam your grasswalk (usually have to wait five seconds), and hide behind the ferry platform. For example, in Seoyeong Eastern Ferry, you can run right and hide behind the docks
- If you get caught behind the docks, you can reach the ferryman in some docks from behind the platform, thereby confusing the crap outa him

- If you die near a ferry, ask the killer to res you. Most likely he will, since he would want your experience and items. You have five seconds of immunity to reach the ferry.
- Save up a zerk as a backup escape plan
- Freeze his ass (Frost nova, Cold wave arrest)
- This worked for me several times on newbs who didn’t know how to use the minimap. Run straight, then turn on a clump of trees/rocks/bushes. Because you’re hidden by the trees as you turn, you have a great advantage. You can either hide inside the bush and sit down, or run in a new direction, or maneuver around the tree to stay out of his vision until he reaches the tree, and run the other way. Works well in Jangan.

- Unless you’re level 40+, set your designated town to Jangan. If you repawn in Donwhang, you will not get out. Trust me, I died 14 times before I finally reached Jangan.
- If you reached the max PK points (200,000), you must kill a mob in order to lower it down to 199,999. Then you can kill again
- NEVER jump into the middle of a major grinding field and try to murder every player around you. First of all, you’ve now attracted the attention of all the grinders around you and they will chase you down for miles. Second, you must kill a mob after every player (see #4) so you really cant kill everybody at once. Sucks.
- Getting out of town will not be fun. There will be eight guys standing around the gates for whatever reason (dueling, sitting, looking for red names). I suggest you find another entrance because they WILL KILL you.
-Jangan- do not go through the south entrance- tons of duelers, they’ll nuke you on sight. West is the safest, occasionally a bunch in the east -Donwhang- do not go through the south entrance or the east entrance, west is safe but remember that you must go past the bridge because it’s still a part of Donwhang (hp loss).

- Remember that you are not safe. PERIOD. Players in SRO are ruthless killers. They will track you down even if they have to go circle around the map twice, they’ll ghost walk toward you, get on horses, attack you with their puppies, and even waste zerk just to reach you. Trust me, I’ve been tracked down all the way from Donwang East Gate to the Seoyeok Eastern Ferry, then teleported and killed on the ends of tiger mountains. Another time I had to circle around the Tiger Mountains three times, then teleported to the Seoyeok Eastern Ferry, and hid behind the dock, and three hotshots spent ten minutes looking for me in Donwhang. Honestly, I cannot understand why these people are so intent on killing pkers because you don’t even get much exp and it’s probably more efficient to kill 5-6 mobs
- As a murderer, you must get in the habit of looking back. There will always be players who look like bots but will be trailing you in the next minute. Also in town, players who see your red name will follow you outside. If you sit, they will stand around for 5-10 minutes, believe me.

- If a player looks strong, stay away from his line of vision. Move back until you can’t see his name. You can tell he’s a high level if you click on him and see a level 12 grass walk and level 9 concentration and like 10 other buffs on him. Also, you could tell from his 1337 weapon, clothes, transport/horses, and pets.
- Suggested PKing areas:
- Chinese Eastern Ferry- Plenty of level 20 players where the chakjis spawn, but stay clear of the road because high level traders travel to and fro. You want to stay around the edges of the forest and clear anybody grinding inside the forest, then work your way into the middle where all the bots are grinding on chakjis. The ferryman is your best source of escape
- Seoyeok’s Eastern Ferry to Western Ferry- You’ll find lots of level 21-22 players, easier than Chinese ferry because it’s less condensed. The ferryman is your best source of escape
- Hyugno Homeland- 25-26 players, nice because there are a lot of buildings you can hide behind when you are running.

- Remember that the same storage is used by all your characters in your account.
- You can deposit money using the clean account, then withdraw using the murderer account.
- Likewise, if you find some good items, you can put it in a storage and have the clean character stall it.
Now that you know everything about player killing, you must realize the impossibility of enjoying the kill while hoping to level up your character. That is why I created a PK Character Build. I recommend you create a new character for pking, unless you wanna screw up your original character. Creating a PK Character:- If you’re planning to pk for a long time, there are several items to bring with you. First, buy all level two armor. You’ll lose an item every time you die, so its not worth wearing high level armor around. Second, buy 10+ sets of 10 pots each. For example, 10 sets of 10 health pots, 10 sets of 10 mana pots, and maybe 4 sets of 10 pills. Why? Cause you drop items every time you die, and you don’t wanna lose 50 health pots in one go. Also, it decreases the chance of armor dropping if you have lots of items (I think). Also, you need maybe 3 sets of 250 arrows if you’re a bowman

- 1-2 million gold is enough to support two pk characters for many months- you’ll be replacing cheap level 2 armor every time you die and probably use 10 health/mana pots every 15 kills. Make sure you save enough gold in your storage.
- Ice Archer is in my opinion the best class for pking (at least for level 20~30) because I found that most people around this level are not immune to ice. They do not bring pills and don’t level up fire shields. Also, since you’re killing people 4-5 levels below you, you’ll kill them by the time they reach you and won’t attract the attention of nearby players
- If you plan to raise a separate PK character, go full STR Ice Bow and use the following skill build:
Masteries:
- Pacheon: MAX
- Anti-Devil Bow MAX (Tertiary attack)
- Arrow Combo MAX (Secondary Attack)
- Hawk Summon MAX (raises attack)
- Demon Soul Arrow MAX (raises range)
- Berserker arrow (Optional)
- Strong Bow Spirit- MAX (Primary attack)
- Mind Concentration MAX (increases attack)
- Cold: MAX
- Cold Force (MAX) for frosting/slowing down players
- Frost Nova Wind (MAX) for freezing players who get close to you
- Thunder: MAX
- Grass walk MAX- a MUST because as a PKer, half the time you will be chasing or running away
- Ghost Walk level 1- useful for chasing/running away
- Fire: level 12
- Flame Body Wisdom level 1 (increases attack)
- Flame Devil Force level 1 (increases attack)
- Heal: level 20
- Resurrection level 2 (a MUST for pkers- you won’t realize how fun it is to ress ppl and kill them over again)
- Force Increasing level 2 (increases mana)
*Notice I omitted most armor/parry boosts. This is because most players you attack will be dead by the time they reach you. Plus, you’re full STR. *Also, all magic raising skills will not help you much *This build only includes the absolute necessities- you can upgrade Cold armor, Heaven’s Force, and Piercing force and etc., but this is all you need without SP farming Personal Analysis: Don’t even tell me to get a cape and pvp duel like normal players, instead of suffering all these penalties and rolling out a whole new character and blah bla… player killing is DIFFERENT. When you kill someone in duels, you may feel a lil proud of your character but when you actually murder someone, you realize that he just lost 2% exp and he has to walk all the way from Jangan again. Meanwhile, he’s crying “ressssss” or “nooooob”, or even “whyyyyyy”, and calling you a jerk. And if he’s a bot, hes gonna sit there for five hours. It is very fun and if you like to torture and make fun of people in real life, you’ll definitely enjoy being a PKer. It’s also very useful in getting rid of botters, ksers, and ppl wit bad manners, so that you can re-login with your clean character and have a very nice grinding. Just remember to run to your hiding spot before logging off. The only complaint I have with the PK system in SRO is that it is very BAD and restraining. First of all, there’s no way to turn clean once you murdered more than eight people, and half the functions are disabled once you’re a murderer. Also, you can only kill up to 30 ppl a day if you own two accounts, which is like 40 minutes of killing.

By the time you mastered the art of player killing, you’ll feel like a true NINJA. No Kidding. The only thing that keeps me from wearing a thief suit is cuz it attracts all the hunters and noobs run away from me. You’ll be checking each gate for duelers outside, then sneak around the corners of the gate and slide along the walls of the gate, then you’ll be running on the edges of the mountains and avoiding the main roads. You’ll automatically click from bush to bush and travel along the areas that conceal your red name the most, and you’ll be swinging around to look behind you constantly. Half the time you’re gonna be chased by another player and you’ll learn to out-maneuver them, if you can’t out-run them. You’ll learn to assess an area and measure the distance from one grinder to the next, and plan an attack that would kill every grinder in the area. Not even joking

why dont you just:
1. pop a p-box while ppl are dueling
2. do what 1* poppers do, but you pop grinder instead

waste of time if you ask me. if you want to PK, go play counter strike or battlefield or something, then you will see what real PKing is like. and you can do it over and over again until people start calling you botter.

Actually, I was talking to a some guy that said he was the cause of all the restrictions. I believe him and don't really care who else does.
Basically, I forget which server it was... he played when SRO first came out and was one of the highest levels in the server. Once he got to like level 60 or whatever the cap was at the time... he just went around murdering people. Anyone that left the city through the gate he was at was instantly killed. No one could kill him since he was the highest level around.
Eventually, he started a murderer guild. Every person in the guild went around murdering lower levels. They would see a group of traders run by, and murder them all. Then a bunch of thieves came by to get the loots, and his guild murdered them too. After a while, they murdered enough people that they were all banned from the game and all these restrictions were placed. He said that in the end, he and his guild murdered a total of like 55,000 people.
Anyway... I have had more fun killing people with another method... and it works even better I believe. There really is NO POINT in murdering someone. When bots die nowadays, they just res and run back out. You lose like no exp when a murderer kills you. I myself chase murderers for the same reason you murder people. I find enjoyment in killing random players. (it's also funny cause i'm lvl 16 and can't get attacked... then i go nuts with thousands of arrows imbuned with ice... some moving speed scrolls... you will die. )
The method I was talking about earlier... is what i discussed in another thread. You give the offender and murder stat to other people. I've discussed how to avoid this, but I have several ways of getting people to fall for it. Some people may hate me for it and think I'm evil, but you can't help it once you've played the game for long enough. So many people get angry when some lvl 80 that's 10 levels higher than them pops them. They then pop some lvl 50 and laugh their heads off. Almost everyone should be looked at as a threat on the road, cause everyone calls over their guild mates and friends to come thieve you. I will say this: if the person I end up killing talks to me in a calm and polite manner, I usually help them out. They usually end up better than where they were to start with. From what I've seen, most people deserve to die. They have such filthy minds and bitter personalities, so I feel no guilt when they die.
By using the method mentioned above, I've killed over 100 people... within a two week period. I believe that's more than you can get with murder stat... and i get no penalties. I've learned a ton of evasion techniques and ways to get around. There is no way you can tell me that there is any good at all in getting murder status. Unless you just utterly hate someone to the point where you will set them back 10 minutes to kill them... which waste like an hour of your time....
i've experimented with a few different ways of getting people to die... and there really is no point in killing bots. They just keep coming back. You hurt yourself more by taking the time to slow them down.
