The early you can get one is better because the wolf can level much more faster then you, so if you get one when you have lvl 30 your wolf will be in troubles if you hunt in a agro area.

Just play in non agro mobs untill your wolf have the same lvl the mobs you're hunting. And bought the food to replenish his hunger, when reached 30% your wolf loses half attack and defense.

i disagree on this
getting a wolf on your lower levels is such a money waste. the gold you lose for buying it and the gold you lose by healing it and feeding it is not worth it.
i think getting a wolf near or after lvl 50 is the best time to get one it does level faster anyway and setting it on not attacking should give you enough time to kill any mob after lvl 50.
and by the time you are close to 60 it will be nearly your level (most people grind with a gap anyway)

Noway, y not get a wolf at 30 and make sure that its ATTACK mode is OFF.. evn then it levels up faster...
I jus sold my wolf at lvl 35 and brought another wolf ... who is almost lvl 25 now ... i havent used a pill / grass for it ... it looks gud ...

Jus an opinion..

Why not get a wolf at lvl 30...pretty simple...you can, but you will probably stash it in your inv like me for a good deal of time...
That's because you will have to hunt in the ravine...earth ghosts , gun powder are not a problem even if they attack the wolf, you should have plenty of time to hit them for greater dmg than the wolf and make them turn their attacks to you...the big problem are taoists...coz their magic does AOE(splash) damage, and your wolf will get damage simply by standing next to you, not even being attacked...plus they sometimes get burnt and fry like a pig :)...(sry but i dont use pet abnormal state potions :D )

Thus if you want to level up the wolf at 30, just set it on non-aggresive and go fight earth ghosts and gun powders, even headless monsters near dw...i am lvl 30 myself...so about higher lvl mobs : i do not know anything about...
At least, that's my oppinion...do not flame on it...or maybe do :)

Well i would say after you got enough money for all the supplies and stuff for your wolf, afterall it costs like 1mil and it's not very easy getting that much money without items to sell to other ppl or your have to trade like crazy and not get popped by players.

Took me like 60+ trade runs to get a wolf and half those trade runs i got killed. just be sure to have more than 1.5-2.0mille before you buy a wolf.

P.S. alchemy is one way to get easy money if you got the patience to do it

GOOD LUCK :D :D :D :D

Wolf Deaths: 5
1 from mobs, 4 from traders walking past while I trained it on non-aggro

1mil +250k+ maybe 100k on food (left open when stalled over night few times)
1.35mil spent

Money saved because mob attacks wolf as I nuke.
500k+

Good trade off, will save more as I level.

Time saved because can switch mobs while wolf finishes: probally around 5+ hours if not more.

buy when you are training at non-aggro mobs, especially when you are farming at non-aggro mobs, such as penon fighters. that way it'll lvl up in no time.

when i bought my 2nd wolf i was 37 so i was killing bandits and stuff, and my wolf died in 2 secs and i didn't even realize it :P so yea, dont do that.
